An American ICON

There is a movie that spans the ages entitled It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart as the main star. I have referenced it several times since this show was launched and I cannot think of a better remembrance to explain and honor the life of the individual that I will have with me on my show today. One life removed can be devastating as that film depicted. One life who has made a difference historically and globally. is who you will meet today. There is a generation that is almost extinct. The World War II generation. This guest has a life that spans many generations and is still impacting them today. You see, he is a brilliant engineer who was born under the shadow of the old North Church in Boston. A symbol of American Freedom. At a young age he encountered an eye disease which forced him behind closed doors where he began toying with crystal radio sets. This led to the invention of the Walkie Talkie, which was used largely in the war years. He then at a very young age was applying for a job at the prestigious MIT and they noticed his abilities and put him into a very elite educational platform, which qualified him to be a part of a specialized team working on LORAN. This system was responsible for the navigation of the US Navy, US Merchant Marine, The Eighth Air Force and the US Submarine Pacific. In his post war years he created the Medic-Alert device that saved countless lives of Seniors and touched the entire world once again. Now, what prompted him to be a creator of devices to meet Unmet Needs has prompted him once again to tackle one of the most disastrous maladies that plagues the eyesight of the world's children. Tom Cataldo is an American Icon and you will find out today, that he is not done yet Tom and his late wife founded a Non-Profit known as the Better Vision for Children Foundation. He has been laboring for over 30 years to bring a test kit that can identify early childhood eye diseases as early as a non communicative 6 month year old child. Eyesight is essential to the life of a human being because it effects everything that they can ever hope to accomplish. This test kit has a pricepoint of less than $5.00 and can be administered to multiple children at the same time. Tom is an engineer that has spanned many generations of humankind with nation and life saving technologies. Now his greatest challenge is to gain the acceptance and the sponsorship necessary to bring his dream of child eyesight disease prevention to the fruition that he and his late wife have intended.
