The Emergence of the Freelance WORKFORCE

The Emergence of the Freelance WORKFORCE
We are in the 4th Industrial Revolution and we are facing rapid change in the way we work and the kinds of work we do. Our workforce is experiencing more changes than ever before, with economic transformation driven by new technologies, automation, a global economy and changing consumer behaviour. It is expected in the US that freelancers will make up the majority of the workforce by 2027 and also worldwide. In the UK, France and the Netherlands, freelance growth has outpaced overall employment growth. The number of freelancers doubled between 2000 and 2014, making them the fastest growing group in the EU labour market. One of the biggest driving forces behind the changes in our workforce is technology. The simple function of the cloud allows us to work from anywhere at any time, and in this episode, we talk about the emergence of the freelance workplace, how we can make ourselves successful as freelancers and how it is changing the structure of employment.
