Bio
Lewis Herms is a 2026 candidate for Governor of California running as an Independent Conservative and positioning himself as an “anti-politician” focused on fixing what he sees as broken systems in state government. A California native and father of seven, Herms was raised by a single mother on food stamps and began working at a young age, developing a hands-on, problem-solving mindset that shaped his career.
Before entering politics, Herms spent decades in the private sector as a turnaround operator, working with Fortune 500 companies and multi-location businesses. He built a reputation for diagnosing inefficiencies, reducing waste, and rapidly improving performance, taking underperforming operations to top rankings and later founding and running his own multimillion-dollar company.
His campaign centers on an “audit-first, fix-it” approach to government, with priorities that include implementing Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) principles, increasing transparency in public health and elections, eliminating government waste and fraud, protecting seniors, addressing human and child trafficking, and reducing or eliminating income and property taxes through cost reductions.
Herms has spent years traveling across communities through grassroots movements such as Screw Big Gov and The Truth Tour, speaking out on issues related to government accountability, healthcare, and public trust.
