Racism and Diversity in Medical Care with Richard T Bosshardt, MD, FACS

Do minority groups receive a different quality of care than majority groups? How is DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) and critical race theory affecting medical care?

Dr. Richard Bosshardt a plastic surgeon, a founding member of the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR) in Medicine and a Senior Fellow of Do No Harm.

Both are organizations whose mission is to push back against the invasion of the ideology of critical race theory, in the guise of antiracism and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in medicine.

He has been a physician for 39 years and a plastic surgeon for 28 of those years. He received his MD from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1978 and completed a 5 year residency in general surgery at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Oakland, CA. He was board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1991.

His care philosophy is to see himself first as a physician first and a plastic surgeon second. He considers plastic surgery as an extension of the overall care of patients and part of a healthy lifestyle, not an alternative to this.
