Azim Khamisa: From Tragedy to Forgiveness - The Power to Transform Lives

About this episode:

Could you forgive the person who murdered someone you love? And could that forgiveness become the foundation for changing millions of lives?

In 1995, Azim Khamisa's world was shattered when his 20-year-old son, Tariq, was killed by a 14-year-old gang member.

Faced with unimaginable grief, Azim made an extraordinary choice: rather than seeking revenge, he chose forgiveness, compassion and a commitment to preventing other families from experiencing the same tragedy.

In this deeply moving episode of The Business Elevation Show, Chris Cooper welcomes internationally acclaimed speaker, author, peace advocate and compassionate leadership expert, Azim Khamisa.

Drawing on his remarkable personal journey, Azim shares how he came to recognise that there were victims at both ends of the gun, why he reached out to the grandfather of his son's killer, and how their unlikely partnership helped establish the Tariq Khamisa Foundation. The foundation has since reached approximately two million young people with programmes promoting non-violence, accountability, empathy and restorative justice.

Azim also shares the extraordinary story of meeting and forgiving the young man responsible for Tariq's death, who eventually joined the foundation to help prevent further violence.

With over four decades of experience in international investment banking and a lifetime dedicated to personal transformation, Azim believes that forgiveness is not simply an act of compassion towards others. It is a powerful means of releasing anger, reclaiming our inner freedom and creating space for a greater purpose.

Chris and Azim explore how forgiveness can transform individuals, families and communities, why compassionate and ethical leadership matters more than ever, and Azim's ambitious vision of making forgiveness a mainstream force for peace across the world.

Join us for an unforgettable conversation about courage, humanity, healing and the extraordinary good that can emerge when we choose forgiveness over hatred.
