2015's Most and Least Charitable States and Discrimination and Latino Youth

Kathryn interviews Wallethub analyst Jill Gonzalez on their recent report of “2015’s Most & Least Charitable States”. Gonzalez shines the spotlight on the most generous of the 50 states by analyzing eight key metrics such as volunteer rate, taxpayers who donated to charity and growth in giving. Kathryn also interviews Center for Family Policy and Research Director Gustavo Carlo PhD, co-author of the study “The Longitudinal Associations Between Discrimination, Depressive Symptoms, and Prosocial Behaviors in US Latino/Recent Immigrant Adolescents”. Dr. Carlo found Latino immigrant youth who reported feeling discriminated against had more depressive symptoms, were less likely to perform altruistic behaviors, be compassionate or empathetic or care for others. U of Missouri Professor Carlo has been elected a Fellow by the American Psychological Association's Board of Directors.
