An Unexpected Life and Entrepreneurship Revolution

An Unexpected Life and Entrepreneurship Revolution
Kathryn interviews Tracy Slater, author of “The Good Shufu: Finding Love, Self, and Home on the Far Side of the World”. When she took a short-term job teaching English to businessmen in Japan, Slater had no intention of falling in love. “The Good Shufu” chronicles her leap of faith as she tries to build a life in Japan, undergoing multiple fertility treatments all in a language and culture she can hardly understand. Slater has appeared in The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, and the New York Times Motherlode blog. Kathryn also interviews educator Steve Mariotti, author of “An Entrepreneur’s Manifesto”. In 1982 Mariotti left a business career to become a teacher. Frustrated by his rowdy classrooms, Mariotti found he could motivate his students by teaching them how to run a small business. This was his inspiration for bringing entrepreneurship education to low-income youth through the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE).
