'Connecting with Dementia' and 'Neurosurgery and Horses'

'Connecting with Dementia' and 'Neurosurgery and Horses'
Kathryn interviews creativity catalyst Deborah Shouse, author of “Connecting in the Land of Dementia: Creative Activities to Explore Together”. Too often, people living with dementia are entertained instead of engaged. Shouse interviewed dozens of experts who showed that creativity and imagination live on, even when memory falters. Shouse is featured in The Washington Post, Woman’s Day, and in more than four dozen Chicken Soup for the Soul books. Kathryn also interviews neurologist, Army veteran, horse trainer, and one of “America’s Best Doctors” Allan J. Hamilton MD, author of “Lead with Your Heart: Lessons from a Life with Horses”. Dr. Hamilton has been the Senior Medical Advisor for 200 episodes of Grey's Anatomy and recently wrapped up work in Mark Wahlberg's movie, Patriots Day. In his spare time Dr. Hamilton is a respected horse trainer, sharing how his work with horses and neurosurgery can teach us lessons in leadership, trust, and gratitude.
