Gendertrolling and Ovarian Cancer

Kathryn interviews Feminist Studies Managing Editor Karla Mantilla, author of “Gendertrolling: How Misogyny Went Viral”. Comedian and actress Leslie Jones was recently the victim of intense and unrelentless online harassment – to the point where her safety was at stake and she had to delete her Twitter account. Mantilla provides key insight into this Internet phenomenon while discussing the legal parameters surrounding the issue such as privacy, anonymity and free speech online. Kathryn also interview ovarian cancer survivor Andrea Herzberg, hotline coordinator for SHARE Cancer Support. September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Every year, over 22,000 women in the U.S. are newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and over 14,000 women die from the disease. More than 55,000 times each year, SHARE programs touch women and men affected by breast or ovarian cancer, as well as members of the general public.
