Healthy Germs and Millenial Employment

Kathryn interviews scientist Marie-Claire Arrieta PhD, author of “Let Them Eat Dirt: Saving Your Child from an Oversanitized World”. It turns out that our current emphasis on hyper-cleanliness and poor diets are taking a toll on our children’s lifelong health. Dr. Arrieta explains how the microbes that live in our bodies impact childhood development and why an imbalance in those microbes can lead to obesity, diabetes, and asthma, among other chronic conditions. Arrieta is published in the leading scientific journals Gastroenterology, PNAS, and Science Translational Medicine. Kathryn also interviews millennial workplace expert Adam Smiley Poswolsky, author of “The Quarter-Life Breakthrough: Invent Your Own Path, Find Meaningful Work, and Build a Life That Matters”. On paper and to the rest of the world, Poswolsky’s position at the Peace Corps headquarters in DC seemed like the perfect job. Truth is he was miserable. Poswolsky is featured in The Washington Post and and FORBES.
