Career to Calling with Yanick Hicks

In this inspiring and uplifting show, The Leader's Edge Ernie and I will delve into the extraordinary journey of Yanick Hicks, a man who faced numerous challenges but managed to turn his life around and find his true calling. However, his life took a drastic turn when he was charged with driving under the influence, bringing everything to a standstill. But Yanick refused to let this setback define him. Despite facing rejection from 13 pharmacy schools, he found hope when one school gave him a chance. With newfound excitement for life, Yanick made the courageous decision to change the people around him and quit drinking alcohol, inspired by the words of Les Brown: You might be through with your past, but your past is not through with you. It was during this transformative period that Yanick was introduced to the teachings of John Maxwell. His message, particularly through his book The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, struck a chord with Yanick. Despite graduating and struggling to find a job initially, he joined the Maxwell Leadership program and eventually secured a position as a pharmacist at Walgreens. However, it was a pivotal moment at a seminar, where Yanick heard Steve Harvey's story about how one's gift can make room for them, that he realized he needed to transition from a career to his true calling. When asked what advice he would give to someone on the edge of transitioning from one place to another, Yanick's response is filled with wisdom: Embrace the unknown and have faith in yourself. Trust that your gift will make room for you and guide you toward your true calling. Don't be afraid to let go of what no longer serves you and step into the greatness that awaits you. Join us as we explore Yanick Hicks' incredible journey from setbacks to success, and discover how you too can find your true calling and create a life of fulfillment and purpose.
