HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE

HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE
Patricia's interview today will focus on Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is a memorial day for those who died in the Shoah, also known as the Holocaust. In the first half hour Patricia interviews Jake Dinnerman, who participated in The March of the Living, an annual educational program, which brings students from all over the world to Poland, in order to study the history of the Holocaust and to examine the roots of prejudice, intolerance and hate. Also on the program is Lilliane Birch, adult child of a Holocaust survivor and a speaker for the Holocaust Educational and Resource Center. She visits many schools and temples each year to tell her parents' stories. In the second half of the program, guests are Judith Jamieson, a member of the board of the Holocaust Education and Resource Center of RI and Rebecca Brenner, daughter of Holocaust Survivors. They will discuss this year's Yom HaShoah at Temple Emanu-El in Providence RI. This year's focus is on the Warsaw ghetto experience and the program in April which includes the cantor's teen choir, stories from teens who speak about their experiences on the March of the Living, and remembrance of Holocaust victims by survivors through candle lighting and name recitation.
