UnchainedTV: Another "Fairlife" Milk Animal Cruelty Scandal Erupts!

Another shocking new animal cruelty scandal has erupted involving milk suppliers to Fairlife, a billion-dollar milk brand owned by Coca Cola, sparking calls for a boycott. Animal Recovery Mission, ARM, has released gut-wrenching footage from 2 Arizona dairy farms supplying milk to Fairlife. A 6-month ARM investigation found “egregious and frequent” animal cruelty with animals being hit, dragged, whipped, shot, shoved, force-fed and chained at two Arizona farms.

This follows previous cruelty scandals involving Fairlife. One ARM video, released in 2019, involved an Indiana Fairlife dairy supplier that sparked headlines, protests and lawsuits.
In 2022, Fairlife owner Coca-Cola and other parties agreed to pay $21 million to settle lawsuits for falsely advertising that their Fairlife ultra-filtered milk came from humanely treated cows. Fairlife then proclaimed that, "animal welfare is and will always be a top priority” and that it had “significantly strengthened our animal care programs and processes since 2019″ through video camera monitoring, a third-party advisory board and more unannounced audits at supplying farms. On its website, Fairlife now makes big claims about its high animal welfare standards saying, "Caring for animals is a top priority at Fairlife, and it all begins with strong relationships with supplying farms.”
So, why the horrible cruelty uncovered by this latest undercover investigation? Fairlife has announced it has cut ties with the two Arizona farms where the cruelty was videotaped. But, ARM founder Richard “Kudo” Couto says that’s not enough. The Arizona Department of Agriculture is reportedly investigating as a new lawsuit is filed. Fairlife and Coca Cola are invited on any time to respond further. Now, UnchainedTV’s Jane Velez-Mitchell gets the inside story from ARM Founder Richard “KUDO” Couto and famed animal activist and podcaster Shannon Blair.

00:00:00,840 --> 00:00:04,540
We are live with breaking news, disturbing news,
2
00:00:04,620 --> 00:00:05,500
we've got to warn you.
3
00:00:05,660 --> 00:00:09,900
This is, I have no words to be
4
00:00:09,900 --> 00:00:10,520
honest with you.
5
00:00:11,120 --> 00:00:14,920
Another shocker, a shocking new animal cruelty scandal
6
00:00:14,920 --> 00:00:18,260
has erupted involving milk suppliers to Fairlife, a
7
00:00:18,260 --> 00:00:21,980
billion dollar milk brand owned by Coca-Cola,
8
00:00:22,520 --> 00:00:24,040
sparking calls for a boycott.
9
00:00:24,480 --> 00:00:28,340
Animal Recovery Mission, Arm, has released gut wrenching
10
00:00:28,340 --> 00:00:31,780
footage from two Arizona dairy farms supplying milk
11
00:00:31,780 --> 00:00:32,560
to Fairlife.
12
00:00:33,020 --> 00:00:36,620
A six month Arm investigation found egregious and
13
00:00:36,620 --> 00:00:41,220
frequent animal cruelty with animals being hit, animals
14
00:00:41,220 --> 00:00:45,100
being dragged, animals being whipped, animals being shot,
15
00:00:45,620 --> 00:00:49,100
animals being shoved, animals being force-fed, and
16
00:00:49,100 --> 00:00:53,660
animals being chained at two Arizona farms.
17
00:00:54,260 --> 00:00:57,940
The video is gut-wrenching.
18
00:00:59,360 --> 00:01:04,740
I'm actually trying to process it as a
19
00:01:04,740 --> 00:01:05,440
human being.
20
00:01:06,080 --> 00:01:08,720
I can just say that watching this video
21
00:01:08,720 --> 00:01:10,820
made me cry and it made me embarrassed
22
00:01:10,820 --> 00:01:12,680
to be a member of the human race.
23
00:01:12,680 --> 00:01:16,800
We are here with Kudo, the founder of
24
00:01:16,800 --> 00:01:19,580
Animal Recovery Mission, who has made it his
25
00:01:19,580 --> 00:01:22,780
life work to expose animal cruelty.
26
00:01:23,040 --> 00:01:26,420
Kudo, first of all, kudos on this investigation.
27
00:01:27,300 --> 00:01:30,740
Tell us, we don't want to get into
28
00:01:30,740 --> 00:01:35,640
the names of the farms and the names
29
00:01:35,640 --> 00:01:36,380
of the families.
30
00:01:36,840 --> 00:01:38,940
It's Fairlife, it's Coca-Cola, we're going to
31
00:01:38,940 --> 00:01:41,080
read their statements in a second, but just
32
00:01:41,080 --> 00:01:43,740
tell us the first farm, which is the
33
00:01:43,740 --> 00:01:45,120
video that we saw there.
34
00:01:45,480 --> 00:01:48,860
Describe what you found and how you found
35
00:01:48,860 --> 00:01:49,160
it.
36
00:01:50,140 --> 00:01:54,580
Yeah, well, we've done undercover investigations on Coca
37
00:01:54,580 --> 00:01:56,540
-Cola on Fairlife since 2019.
38
00:01:56,980 --> 00:01:59,040
This is actually our seventh and eighth case.
39
00:01:59,540 --> 00:02:01,200
But this is a new plant for Coca
40
00:02:01,200 --> 00:02:03,340
-Cola in the greater Arizona area, in the
41
00:02:03,340 --> 00:02:05,860
Phoenix zone of the state.
42
00:02:06,260 --> 00:02:08,340
We wanted to see if the crimes were
43
00:02:08,340 --> 00:02:12,360
as upper level as they were in Texas
44
00:02:12,360 --> 00:02:14,680
and in Indiana and other parts of the
45
00:02:14,680 --> 00:02:15,480
country.
46
00:02:17,680 --> 00:02:24,340
A lot of stipulations have been in place
47
00:02:24,340 --> 00:02:29,820
since our 2019 investigation to make animal cruelty
48
00:02:29,820 --> 00:02:33,100
within the Fairlife and Coca-Cola corporations, quote
49
00:02:33,100 --> 00:02:34,220
-unquote, impossible.
50
00:02:35,020 --> 00:02:36,680
Okay, I can't hear you.
51
00:02:37,260 --> 00:02:38,240
We can't hear you.
52
00:02:38,520 --> 00:02:39,540
We can't hear you.
53
00:02:39,800 --> 00:02:40,580
You're breaking up.
54
00:02:40,900 --> 00:02:45,240
Actually affected probably the animals they're supplying animals
55
00:02:45,240 --> 00:02:49,440
were worse crimes we found in 2019.
56
00:02:50,100 --> 00:02:53,740
Yeah, well, I'm so sorry to tell you
57
00:02:53,740 --> 00:02:54,000
this.
58
00:02:54,320 --> 00:02:55,720
We're having trouble- And that $35 million
59
00:02:55,720 --> 00:02:59,680
were invested by Coke and Fairlife to, quote
60
00:02:59,680 --> 00:03:02,420
-unquote, bury the lives of the dairy cows
61
00:03:02,420 --> 00:03:04,060
within their supplying dairies.
62
00:03:05,500 --> 00:03:10,220
The cruelty was eight of 10, out of
63
00:03:10,220 --> 00:03:11,300
one in 10.
64
00:03:12,260 --> 00:03:19,080
We're seeing felony, we're talking- Okay.
65
00:03:19,080 --> 00:03:21,080
At that particular farm.
66
00:03:21,420 --> 00:03:22,080
Yeah.
67
00:03:22,140 --> 00:03:24,420
We're having trouble hearing you, by the way.
68
00:03:24,960 --> 00:03:27,220
I want to go to Shannon Keith.
69
00:03:28,420 --> 00:03:29,520
Shannon Blair.
70
00:03:29,800 --> 00:03:33,120
Shannon, you've been following this for a long
71
00:03:33,120 --> 00:03:33,580
time.
72
00:03:34,200 --> 00:03:38,640
What was your emotional reaction to the footage
73
00:03:38,640 --> 00:03:40,200
as it came up?
74
00:03:41,100 --> 00:03:43,280
Shane, I can barely watch this footage.
75
00:03:43,640 --> 00:03:46,140
I've been to so many places of violence
76
00:03:46,140 --> 00:03:49,460
and slaughterhouses, and when I first saw this,
77
00:03:49,520 --> 00:03:50,980
I couldn't get through it.
78
00:03:51,100 --> 00:03:54,580
I had a physical reaction and was being
79
00:03:54,580 --> 00:03:56,580
vocal because it was...
80
00:03:56,580 --> 00:04:01,320
They just pulled a fully conscious female cow
81
00:04:01,320 --> 00:04:04,480
over an eight-foot concrete wall by a
82
00:04:04,480 --> 00:04:05,640
chain around her neck.
83
00:04:06,420 --> 00:04:10,460
This is really difficult for anyone who has
84
00:04:10,460 --> 00:04:13,420
any type of feelings for other individuals to
85
00:04:13,420 --> 00:04:13,760
watch.
86
00:04:13,900 --> 00:04:14,980
It's sickening.
87
00:04:16,610 --> 00:04:20,250
And you have a son.
88
00:04:20,470 --> 00:04:21,610
What was his reaction?
89
00:04:21,710 --> 00:04:22,790
I know we're going to hear from him
90
00:04:22,790 --> 00:04:23,110
later.
91
00:04:23,730 --> 00:04:26,170
So we have, like you said, we've been
92
00:04:26,170 --> 00:04:28,710
following this for a long time, for over
93
00:04:28,710 --> 00:04:29,790
five years now.
94
00:04:29,790 --> 00:04:32,830
When this first was released in 2019, we
95
00:04:32,830 --> 00:04:33,650
were horrified.
96
00:04:33,990 --> 00:04:36,630
We had found out a few years earlier
97
00:04:36,630 --> 00:04:39,630
about the inherent cruelty of the dairy industry,
98
00:04:39,630 --> 00:04:43,050
but what we saw in the 2019 investigations
99
00:04:43,050 --> 00:04:46,410
was above that inherent cruelty.
100
00:04:46,550 --> 00:04:48,750
It was above and beyond anything that I
101
00:04:48,750 --> 00:04:50,150
could have possibly imagined.
102
00:04:50,730 --> 00:04:54,610
And now seeing this after what we had
103
00:04:54,610 --> 00:04:57,710
seen in the past, and then Coca-Cola
104
00:04:57,710 --> 00:04:59,410
saying that they were going to make sure
105
00:04:59,410 --> 00:05:01,470
that nothing like this had ever happened again,
106
00:05:01,690 --> 00:05:05,350
and they've put $40 million now since 2019
107
00:05:05,350 --> 00:05:07,010
into animal welfare standards.
108
00:05:07,310 --> 00:05:10,210
So now to see these investigations come out
109
00:05:10,210 --> 00:05:14,730
of 2024 investigations, I can't even believe it.
110
00:05:14,850 --> 00:05:16,890
I mean, this is a huge corporation.
111
00:05:17,570 --> 00:05:20,750
They say that they have audits happening constantly,
112
00:05:21,010 --> 00:05:23,790
third-party audits and their own audits.
113
00:05:23,990 --> 00:05:25,790
And I mean, how could this happen?
114
00:05:28,110 --> 00:05:29,630
My son was horrified.
115
00:05:29,750 --> 00:05:31,830
He's been speaking out against it since it
116
00:05:31,830 --> 00:05:32,630
happened.
117
00:05:32,790 --> 00:05:34,850
Everywhere we go, we've been telling people about
118
00:05:34,850 --> 00:05:35,090
it.
119
00:05:35,530 --> 00:05:36,070
Okay.
120
00:05:36,150 --> 00:05:37,690
I think we have Kudo back.
121
00:05:38,350 --> 00:05:42,050
I want to read some of the statements
122
00:05:42,050 --> 00:05:44,830
that Fairlife has made.
123
00:05:45,050 --> 00:05:47,710
We invite them on at any time to
124
00:05:47,710 --> 00:05:53,190
respond, but let's talk about the history of
125
00:05:53,190 --> 00:05:54,790
this and their responses.
126
00:05:55,570 --> 00:05:59,450
So first of all, there was an investigation,
127
00:05:59,650 --> 00:06:02,530
an undercover investigation conducted by you Kudo in
128
00:06:02,530 --> 00:06:03,770
2019.
129
00:06:04,430 --> 00:06:06,770
It was released in 2019.
130
00:06:07,190 --> 00:06:10,350
And at that time, they said they were
131
00:06:10,350 --> 00:06:11,430
going to change.
132
00:06:12,090 --> 00:06:17,230
And then subsequently Coca-Cola bought Fairlife completely.
133
00:06:17,370 --> 00:06:20,130
So now Fairlife is completely owned by Coca
134
00:06:20,130 --> 00:06:20,390
-Cola.
135
00:06:20,730 --> 00:06:22,370
Correct me if I'm any mistakes.
136
00:06:22,910 --> 00:06:28,350
This is the statement that Fairlife gave in
137
00:06:28,350 --> 00:06:34,370
response to this most recent undercover investigation of
138
00:06:34,370 --> 00:06:34,630
yours.
139
00:06:34,790 --> 00:06:36,710
Let me read it and then hopefully get
140
00:06:36,710 --> 00:06:37,370
your response.
141
00:06:38,070 --> 00:06:41,230
Fairlife's response, we have zero tolerance for animal
142
00:06:41,230 --> 00:06:45,370
abuse and the supplier has suspended delivery of
143
00:06:45,370 --> 00:06:46,610
milk from these facilities.
144
00:06:47,270 --> 00:06:49,490
Fairlife does not own farms or cows and
145
00:06:49,490 --> 00:06:53,770
requires suppliers to follow stringent animal welfare standards.
146
00:06:54,250 --> 00:06:55,930
Your response to that.
147
00:06:56,650 --> 00:07:01,350
Again, they say they have suspended delivery of
148
00:07:01,350 --> 00:07:02,430
milk from these facilities.
149
00:07:02,650 --> 00:07:03,410
Your response, Kudo.
150
00:07:04,710 --> 00:07:08,470
Well, that's a pretty weak response from Fairlife.
151
00:07:09,210 --> 00:07:11,530
Suspending doesn't terminate, right?
152
00:07:11,710 --> 00:07:13,510
So they are planning on going back to
153
00:07:13,510 --> 00:07:14,150
that supplier.
154
00:07:14,530 --> 00:07:16,010
I would say very quickly.
155
00:07:16,590 --> 00:07:18,490
They possibly already have.
156
00:07:22,310 --> 00:07:25,070
They're being very, very careful with their language
157
00:07:25,070 --> 00:07:29,310
because now they know they are abusers and
158
00:07:29,310 --> 00:07:33,110
have gone into an industry that is cruelty
159
00:07:33,110 --> 00:07:33,810
by nature.
160
00:07:34,630 --> 00:07:39,350
There's no possible way to have, unfortunately, a
161
00:07:39,350 --> 00:07:43,970
cow dairy producing humane certified milk.
162
00:07:44,290 --> 00:07:45,570
It's just an impossibility.
163
00:07:45,570 --> 00:07:47,930
They now know that and they also now
164
00:07:47,930 --> 00:07:50,550
know that the animal recovery mission has their
165
00:07:50,550 --> 00:07:51,430
number, right?
166
00:07:51,570 --> 00:07:53,550
We know how to get undercover now in
167
00:07:53,550 --> 00:07:55,350
any of their facilities at any time.
168
00:07:55,570 --> 00:07:57,470
So they know that we are going to
169
00:07:57,470 --> 00:08:00,910
hammer them on a yearly basis and expose
170
00:08:00,910 --> 00:08:01,370
them.
171
00:08:02,170 --> 00:08:08,070
And whatever they do, whatever new policy they
172
00:08:08,070 --> 00:08:10,150
put in place for animal welfare, it's not
173
00:08:10,150 --> 00:08:10,650
going to work.
174
00:08:11,170 --> 00:08:14,590
And I think we showed that within this
175
00:08:14,590 --> 00:08:15,810
Arizona investigation.
176
00:08:17,050 --> 00:08:19,070
So I want to read a little bit
177
00:08:19,070 --> 00:08:19,570
more.
178
00:08:19,990 --> 00:08:23,290
And again, Fairlife is invited on at any
179
00:08:23,290 --> 00:08:23,810
time.
180
00:08:24,010 --> 00:08:27,050
We would love to get their response, further
181
00:08:27,050 --> 00:08:27,670
response.
182
00:08:27,870 --> 00:08:31,030
We would love to talk to representatives from
183
00:08:31,030 --> 00:08:36,390
Coca-Cola and we want to really show
184
00:08:36,390 --> 00:08:39,470
what their response to this situation is.
185
00:08:39,630 --> 00:08:43,169
So let me read a couple more statements
186
00:08:43,169 --> 00:08:47,130
that I got right off the Fairlife website.
187
00:08:48,370 --> 00:08:50,830
Here is the one that's been quoted most.
188
00:08:51,430 --> 00:08:53,570
We believe in better care for animals.
189
00:08:54,110 --> 00:08:56,230
Caring for animals is a top priority at
190
00:08:56,230 --> 00:08:56,650
Fairlife.
191
00:08:56,770 --> 00:08:59,350
It all begins with strong relationships with supplying
192
00:08:59,350 --> 00:08:59,910
farms.
193
00:09:00,510 --> 00:09:03,590
Our robust animal welfare programme is led by
194
00:09:03,590 --> 00:09:07,910
a full on-staff veterinarian and combines industry
195
00:09:07,910 --> 00:09:12,270
-leading standards with regular audits, strong oversight, and
196
00:09:12,270 --> 00:09:15,930
the expertise of a third-party animal advisory
197
00:09:15,930 --> 00:09:20,430
council consisting of leading experts in the dairy
198
00:09:20,430 --> 00:09:21,410
industry.
199
00:09:21,790 --> 00:09:22,810
Let's go continue.
200
00:09:22,950 --> 00:09:23,830
It doesn't end there.
201
00:09:23,830 --> 00:09:26,170
Animal Welfare Advisory Council.
202
00:09:26,330 --> 00:09:30,210
Fairlife's Animal Welfare Advisory Council consists of six
203
00:09:30,210 --> 00:09:32,030
of the top experts in the dairy and
204
00:09:32,030 --> 00:09:33,170
animal health industry.
205
00:09:33,810 --> 00:09:36,050
Together, this group works with Fairlife to review
206
00:09:36,050 --> 00:09:40,910
ongoing animal welfare programmes and guide advancement and
207
00:09:40,910 --> 00:09:44,150
improvement to our animal welfare programme based on
208
00:09:44,150 --> 00:09:45,810
new research and learnings.
209
00:09:46,210 --> 00:09:48,910
Industry-leading animal welfare standards.
210
00:09:49,110 --> 00:09:50,990
Our goal is that all cows and calves
211
00:09:50,990 --> 00:09:53,350
are provided with the best care possible.
212
00:09:53,650 --> 00:09:56,470
As a dairy processor that doesn't own farms
213
00:09:56,470 --> 00:09:58,990
or cows, we rely on the partnership of
214
00:09:58,990 --> 00:10:02,310
industry experts, advisors, and our network of supplying
215
00:10:02,310 --> 00:10:04,510
farms to help us achieve this goal.
216
00:10:04,770 --> 00:10:09,350
We are committed to continuously evaluating our animal
217
00:10:09,350 --> 00:10:10,290
welfare programme.
218
00:10:10,670 --> 00:10:12,610
That is their statement.
219
00:10:13,330 --> 00:10:15,950
Now, what I would like to do is
220
00:10:15,950 --> 00:10:24,350
play the video of your undercover investigation with
221
00:10:24,350 --> 00:10:24,930
sound.
222
00:10:26,350 --> 00:10:28,110
That's the statement of Fairlife.
223
00:10:28,390 --> 00:10:31,310
Here is the undercover investigation that you did,
224
00:10:31,770 --> 00:10:35,530
what, 2024, just a few months ago.
225
00:10:36,890 --> 00:10:39,510
By the way, those statements remain on their
226
00:10:39,510 --> 00:10:41,330
website right now.
227
00:10:42,130 --> 00:10:42,270
Okay.
228
00:11:01,190 --> 00:11:04,810
Top managers are using heavy machinery and electrocuting
229
00:11:04,810 --> 00:11:06,830
sick and in-labour mothers.
230
00:11:13,610 --> 00:11:18,490
In the milking parlour, mothers are beaten and
231
00:11:18,490 --> 00:11:19,930
whipped into the milking parlours.
232
00:11:26,030 --> 00:11:29,650
As punishment, their tails are snapped and broken
233
00:11:29,650 --> 00:11:30,110
in half.
234
00:11:34,010 --> 00:11:37,870
Fairlife calves are beaten, punched, dragged, whipped, then
235
00:11:37,870 --> 00:11:39,710
violently thrown into animal transports.
236
00:11:44,010 --> 00:11:47,010
In record numbers, dairy cows and cows are
237
00:11:47,010 --> 00:11:48,710
dying from abuse and neglect.
238
00:11:51,570 --> 00:11:53,510
So, let's go to Shannon first.
239
00:11:53,670 --> 00:11:56,090
You saw the statements from Fairlife, and again,
240
00:11:56,190 --> 00:11:58,130
we invite Fairlife and Coca-Cola on anytime,
241
00:11:58,530 --> 00:11:59,870
and then there's the video.
242
00:12:00,350 --> 00:12:02,430
What do you make of the discrepancy?
243
00:12:03,250 --> 00:12:05,590
I mean, it's a complete, it's fraudulent.
244
00:12:05,730 --> 00:12:07,830
It's a complete act.
245
00:12:07,970 --> 00:12:09,750
Nothing about it is real.
246
00:12:10,270 --> 00:12:12,730
They have to know because the dairy industry
247
00:12:12,730 --> 00:12:15,790
is inherently cruel, and then this is happening
248
00:12:15,790 --> 00:12:17,490
during every single investigation.
249
00:12:18,050 --> 00:12:22,610
So, it's obviously not isolated, and it's just
250
00:12:22,610 --> 00:12:23,270
laughable.
251
00:12:23,630 --> 00:12:26,450
The fact that they can feel okay with
252
00:12:26,450 --> 00:12:28,630
the name of the company and then putting
253
00:12:28,630 --> 00:12:31,270
those statements on the website, and like you
254
00:12:31,270 --> 00:12:32,450
said, they're still up there.
255
00:12:32,790 --> 00:12:33,490
It's unreal.
256
00:12:33,490 --> 00:12:36,330
They have no shame, and the fact that
257
00:12:36,330 --> 00:12:38,870
the mainstream media is not covering this is
258
00:12:38,870 --> 00:12:40,590
really, really disturbing.
259
00:12:42,070 --> 00:12:45,530
Yeah, we're getting a lot of comments, but
260
00:12:45,530 --> 00:12:51,490
as outraged as people are, Shannon, this remains
261
00:12:51,490 --> 00:12:54,410
perhaps the most successful milk company in the
262
00:12:54,410 --> 00:12:58,850
United States, according to a food dive.
263
00:12:59,270 --> 00:13:02,770
In 2024, Fairlife was the leading white milk
264
00:13:02,770 --> 00:13:06,870
brand in the United States, and they're apparently
265
00:13:06,870 --> 00:13:10,950
planning on opening a $650 million facility.
266
00:13:11,350 --> 00:13:14,770
Coca-Cola is expected to open a $650
267
00:13:14,770 --> 00:13:17,050
million facility in New York that will serve
268
00:13:17,050 --> 00:13:20,190
as Fairlife's flagship northeast location.
269
00:13:20,550 --> 00:13:25,640
So, they're not backing down and saying, yeah,
270
00:13:25,760 --> 00:13:27,360
dairy is inherently cruel.
271
00:13:27,520 --> 00:13:29,140
We're going to switch to plant-based, which
272
00:13:29,140 --> 00:13:32,700
could be done, and that's the obvious solution,
273
00:13:33,320 --> 00:13:36,980
whereas dairy is inherently cruel because you have
274
00:13:36,980 --> 00:13:38,660
to separate the mother and the baby, and
275
00:13:38,660 --> 00:13:42,260
they don't want to be separated, and whereas
276
00:13:42,260 --> 00:13:47,000
this is a dairy product, wherefore do the
277
00:13:47,000 --> 00:13:48,920
same exact thing with plant-based milk, soy
278
00:13:48,920 --> 00:13:51,920
milk, rice milk, hemp milk, almond milk, oat
279
00:13:51,920 --> 00:13:56,080
milk, the many, many milks that exist today.
280
00:13:57,300 --> 00:14:03,100
There has been so much outrage from people
281
00:14:03,100 --> 00:14:08,920
around the world over this latest scandal, is
282
00:14:08,920 --> 00:14:10,000
what I'd have to call it.
283
00:14:10,260 --> 00:14:12,960
Let's play some clips that are on social
284
00:14:12,960 --> 00:14:13,340
media.
285
00:14:13,520 --> 00:14:18,660
This is CSI actress Lena Esko reacting.
286
00:14:23,380 --> 00:14:27,420
In 2019, Animal Recovery Mission exposed Fairlife, owned
287
00:14:27,420 --> 00:14:30,800
by Coca-Cola, for their horrific animal abuse.
288
00:14:31,140 --> 00:14:32,520
Fairlife promised change.
289
00:14:33,360 --> 00:14:33,880
They lied.
290
00:14:34,640 --> 00:14:37,400
Arm just went undercover again, this time at
291
00:14:37,400 --> 00:14:40,080
dairy farms in Phoenix, Arizona, where milk is
292
00:14:40,080 --> 00:14:42,320
produced for Fairlife and Coca-Cola.
293
00:14:42,800 --> 00:14:45,740
Not only has nothing improved, but the torture
294
00:14:45,740 --> 00:14:46,580
has gotten worse.
295
00:14:46,580 --> 00:14:50,440
Please go to animalrecoverymission.org and sign the
296
00:14:50,440 --> 00:14:50,760
petition.
297
00:14:51,160 --> 00:14:53,620
Call and email the sheriff's office and Fairlife
298
00:14:53,620 --> 00:14:55,160
and demand justice now.
299
00:15:06,820 --> 00:15:10,340
So that last shot, Richard, you're saying that
300
00:15:10,340 --> 00:15:14,640
they dragged a cow over a fence by
301
00:15:14,640 --> 00:15:15,380
the neck.
302
00:15:17,690 --> 00:15:19,990
Describe that, because that was one of the
303
00:15:19,990 --> 00:15:22,230
ones that really just shook me to my
304
00:15:22,230 --> 00:15:22,550
core.
305
00:15:23,510 --> 00:15:27,730
Yeah, that was about an hour and a
306
00:15:27,730 --> 00:15:29,530
half worth of torture on that mother she
307
00:15:29,530 --> 00:15:32,210
was in labour in the milking parlour, and
308
00:15:32,210 --> 00:15:34,550
she couldn't walk because she was giving birth.
309
00:15:36,210 --> 00:15:38,090
They wanted her out of the milking parlour,
310
00:15:38,230 --> 00:15:43,150
so they dragged her across a slick floor
311
00:15:43,150 --> 00:15:45,150
by the neck, they chained her by the
312
00:15:45,150 --> 00:15:48,090
neck, and then elevated her by the neck
313
00:15:48,090 --> 00:15:49,190
over an eight-foot wall.
314
00:15:50,210 --> 00:15:52,330
They tortured her for about an hour after
315
00:15:52,330 --> 00:15:54,610
that, and then they shot her inhumanely in
316
00:15:54,610 --> 00:15:56,550
the back of the neck a few times
317
00:15:56,550 --> 00:15:58,410
and just let her lay.
318
00:15:58,570 --> 00:15:59,870
It took her a few hours, actually, to
319
00:15:59,870 --> 00:16:03,310
die, but that's very common in your Fairlife
320
00:16:03,310 --> 00:16:04,770
and Coca-Cola supplying dairies.
321
00:16:06,470 --> 00:16:09,490
It's what we saw in that facility time
322
00:16:09,490 --> 00:16:11,050
and time again, almost on a daily basis.
323
00:16:11,150 --> 00:16:12,570
It's just how they treated their animals.
324
00:16:14,450 --> 00:16:18,330
It's almost like policy at the Fairlife supplying
325
00:16:18,330 --> 00:16:19,210
dairies at this point.
326
00:16:20,010 --> 00:16:26,230
You know, the comments are people just expressing
327
00:16:26,230 --> 00:16:29,250
outrage, people who are watching this show on
328
00:16:29,250 --> 00:16:29,790
Facebook.
329
00:16:31,310 --> 00:16:36,350
I wonder if there's any perception, I mean,
330
00:16:36,570 --> 00:16:40,310
if the brand is growing, is that their
331
00:16:40,310 --> 00:16:40,650
criteria?
332
00:16:42,770 --> 00:16:46,750
Again, Coca-Cola and Fairlife on any time.
333
00:16:46,890 --> 00:16:51,750
I am emotionally devastated by having to edit
334
00:16:51,750 --> 00:16:52,370
this video.
335
00:16:52,510 --> 00:16:54,150
I don't even know how you edited the
336
00:16:54,150 --> 00:16:54,630
whole thing.
337
00:16:54,710 --> 00:16:57,090
I had to just take your clips, and
338
00:16:57,090 --> 00:17:00,090
my dogs, because I didn't have headsets on,
339
00:17:00,510 --> 00:17:03,030
were very agitated because they were hearing the
340
00:17:03,030 --> 00:17:04,089
moaning of the cows.
341
00:17:04,609 --> 00:17:12,270
I literally feel like I just can't even
342
00:17:12,270 --> 00:17:16,490
process that this is happening for a second,
343
00:17:17,069 --> 00:17:21,310
a second once, a second once.
344
00:17:21,530 --> 00:17:24,550
What does that say about our culture?
345
00:17:25,510 --> 00:17:28,970
What does that say about humanity as a
346
00:17:28,970 --> 00:17:29,630
species?
347
00:17:30,710 --> 00:17:33,830
What does that say about our values?
348
00:17:34,550 --> 00:17:37,530
That this is the number one, according to
349
00:17:37,530 --> 00:17:41,610
Food Dive, 2014, it was the leading white
350
00:17:41,610 --> 00:17:42,710
milk brand in the US.
351
00:17:44,730 --> 00:17:47,070
Now, I'm not the only one who's had
352
00:17:47,070 --> 00:17:48,150
these reactions.
353
00:17:48,710 --> 00:17:50,130
We're just going to play a couple of
354
00:17:50,130 --> 00:17:55,970
clips from social media stars, up-and-comers.
355
00:17:56,230 --> 00:17:57,670
We have an attorney.
356
00:17:58,670 --> 00:18:02,110
She is Angela Kim, and she's a social
357
00:18:02,110 --> 00:18:02,810
media attorney.
358
00:18:03,630 --> 00:18:05,950
She made this video and posted it.
359
00:18:05,950 --> 00:18:08,150
A new class action lawsuit was just filed
360
00:18:08,150 --> 00:18:10,470
against Coca-Cola for their brand Fairlife.
361
00:18:10,590 --> 00:18:13,050
The allegations are again for false advertising, and
362
00:18:13,050 --> 00:18:14,670
they boil down to the same issue.
363
00:18:14,870 --> 00:18:16,750
So rule of thumb, if a company tells
364
00:18:16,750 --> 00:18:19,190
you something about the product, it really has
365
00:18:19,190 --> 00:18:21,250
to be true, especially if it's a premium
366
00:18:21,250 --> 00:18:23,950
product that charges higher prices based on whatever
367
00:18:23,950 --> 00:18:24,690
they're telling you.
368
00:18:24,870 --> 00:18:27,050
Fairlife markets, based on giving their cows a
369
00:18:27,050 --> 00:18:29,590
fair life, explicitly says in their materials that
370
00:18:29,590 --> 00:18:31,550
they take better care of the animals that
371
00:18:31,550 --> 00:18:32,250
provide us milk.
372
00:18:32,350 --> 00:18:34,350
But this lawsuit is based on a 2024
373
00:18:34,350 --> 00:18:37,710
investigation by ARM, Animal Recovery Mission, and the
374
00:18:37,710 --> 00:18:38,730
pictures made me cry.
375
00:18:38,830 --> 00:18:39,930
I won't share them with you.
376
00:18:40,030 --> 00:18:42,450
They show horrifying abuse of cows that's applied
377
00:18:42,450 --> 00:18:45,370
to Fairlife, frequent flogging, beating, being trampled to
378
00:18:45,370 --> 00:18:47,970
death, denial of veterinary care, newborn cows being
379
00:18:47,970 --> 00:18:48,610
left to die.
380
00:18:48,750 --> 00:18:50,250
The allegations are that not only do they
381
00:18:50,250 --> 00:18:52,290
not provide a better life for their cows,
382
00:18:52,350 --> 00:18:54,590
they actually violate the industry standard of care,
383
00:18:54,690 --> 00:18:57,530
allegedly qualifying as even criminal animal cruelty.
384
00:18:57,690 --> 00:18:59,670
So class action settlements are not just about
385
00:18:59,670 --> 00:19:00,010
money.
386
00:19:00,130 --> 00:19:02,590
They also require the company to right whatever
387
00:19:02,590 --> 00:19:04,410
wrong was alleged in the first place, which
388
00:19:04,410 --> 00:19:06,970
means they either change their advertising promise, frankly
389
00:19:06,970 --> 00:19:08,430
they should change their name at this point,
390
00:19:08,530 --> 00:19:10,170
or improve their treatment of cows to a
391
00:19:10,170 --> 00:19:11,910
standard of care that is consistent with what
392
00:19:11,910 --> 00:19:12,430
they promised.
393
00:19:12,530 --> 00:19:13,930
Seemingly has not happened here.
394
00:19:14,110 --> 00:19:14,970
I will keep you posted.
395
00:19:15,530 --> 00:19:17,070
All right.
396
00:19:17,210 --> 00:19:18,410
Thank you, Angela Kim.
397
00:19:18,590 --> 00:19:19,450
That is just one.
398
00:19:19,570 --> 00:19:23,270
There were many, many examples of people talking
399
00:19:23,270 --> 00:19:24,990
about this, and she said it made her
400
00:19:24,990 --> 00:19:25,370
cry.
401
00:19:26,990 --> 00:19:31,110
I just felt so disoriented.
402
00:19:32,290 --> 00:19:33,670
How can this be happening?
403
00:19:33,830 --> 00:19:35,730
Now, look, let me just say this.
404
00:19:36,230 --> 00:19:37,790
I have several of these.
405
00:19:38,670 --> 00:19:40,830
I know exactly what's happening inside my home
406
00:19:40,830 --> 00:19:41,990
when I walk out the door.
407
00:19:43,010 --> 00:19:45,290
I also have a Furbo, which is a
408
00:19:45,290 --> 00:19:48,730
great product that actually follows my dogs, and
409
00:19:48,730 --> 00:19:49,630
I can hear it too.
410
00:19:49,910 --> 00:19:51,510
If they bark, I hear it.
411
00:19:51,950 --> 00:19:54,810
Now, these statements, this is what I want
412
00:19:54,810 --> 00:19:55,370
to get into.
413
00:19:55,530 --> 00:20:00,550
These statements that they spent something like $30
414
00:20:00,550 --> 00:20:03,210
million, according to Food Dive, in its annual
415
00:20:03,210 --> 00:20:06,370
stewardship report released in April, Fairlife said it
416
00:20:06,370 --> 00:20:09,610
had invested, along with its suppliers, nearly $30
417
00:20:09,610 --> 00:20:13,970
million in its animal welfare programme.
418
00:20:14,670 --> 00:20:17,210
Again, we showed the statements.
419
00:20:17,430 --> 00:20:20,630
I want to be very fair and show
420
00:20:20,630 --> 00:20:23,570
exactly what Fairlife is saying and Coca-Cola
421
00:20:23,570 --> 00:20:23,970
is saying.
422
00:20:24,290 --> 00:20:28,070
It also noted that its supplier farms undergo
423
00:20:28,070 --> 00:20:30,890
regular third-party audits, ensuring the highest levels
424
00:20:30,890 --> 00:20:33,810
of animal care and the highest quality products,
425
00:20:34,250 --> 00:20:38,530
end quote, the highest level of animal care.
426
00:20:38,950 --> 00:20:41,530
And you have a video of a cow
427
00:20:41,530 --> 00:20:43,610
being dragged by the neck over a wall
428
00:20:43,610 --> 00:20:48,550
and tails being broken and floggings.
429
00:20:49,630 --> 00:20:51,950
Now, this is a very cheap item.
430
00:20:52,570 --> 00:20:54,190
I have several of them.
431
00:20:55,390 --> 00:20:58,150
I can see, and there's plenty of them
432
00:20:58,150 --> 00:21:01,390
where you can hear and everything else, okay?
433
00:21:03,180 --> 00:21:07,660
It doesn't add up, $30 million, and that's
434
00:21:07,660 --> 00:21:08,740
happening not once.
435
00:21:09,100 --> 00:21:12,100
But, Kudo, are you saying that this was
436
00:21:12,100 --> 00:21:16,360
regular standard operating procedure, and was it just
437
00:21:16,360 --> 00:21:17,420
low-level employees?
438
00:21:19,540 --> 00:21:22,900
No, this was the top-level management, right
439
00:21:22,900 --> 00:21:23,580
under the owners.
440
00:21:24,780 --> 00:21:26,720
The cameras that you held up, they had
441
00:21:26,720 --> 00:21:28,580
cameras throughout the dairy.
442
00:21:29,220 --> 00:21:32,940
They adhered to all of the policies put
443
00:21:32,940 --> 00:21:36,340
in place, forced by Coca-Cola and Fairlife.
444
00:21:37,420 --> 00:21:39,460
But it just goes to show you that
445
00:21:39,460 --> 00:21:42,520
in the dairy industry, in the dairy environment,
446
00:21:42,780 --> 00:21:45,040
in a farm-like setting, in a dairy,
447
00:21:46,380 --> 00:21:49,300
cruelty is just everywhere, and it is impossible
448
00:21:49,300 --> 00:21:50,860
to steer away from it.
449
00:21:51,140 --> 00:21:52,960
Part of the problem is, with those cameras,
450
00:21:53,340 --> 00:21:55,940
the same people that were doing the abusing
451
00:21:55,940 --> 00:21:59,180
on a felony level, killing the animals inhumanely,
452
00:21:59,400 --> 00:22:02,180
were the same ones that were monitoring those
453
00:22:02,180 --> 00:22:03,500
camera systems, right?
454
00:22:03,900 --> 00:22:06,640
They were the people that were conducting the
455
00:22:06,640 --> 00:22:11,740
training for the new higher, lower-tier dairy
456
00:22:11,740 --> 00:22:12,100
worker.
457
00:22:14,000 --> 00:22:20,940
So, I will say that whatever Fairlife and
458
00:22:20,940 --> 00:22:24,260
Coca-Cola do for the future, it will
459
00:22:24,260 --> 00:22:27,160
not change the abuse in any of their
460
00:22:27,160 --> 00:22:31,760
supplying dairies, and I will put anything I
461
00:22:31,760 --> 00:22:35,540
have on that statement, that whatever dairy that
462
00:22:35,540 --> 00:22:38,180
the Animal Recovery Mission goes undercover in the
463
00:22:38,180 --> 00:22:40,880
future at Fairlife, and we're going to do
464
00:22:40,880 --> 00:22:43,700
it again, and I know the Fairlife and
465
00:22:43,700 --> 00:22:46,780
Coca-Cola attorneys are watching this, but we
466
00:22:46,780 --> 00:22:47,520
have your number.
467
00:22:48,000 --> 00:22:50,400
So, we'll be back, and the same type
468
00:22:50,400 --> 00:22:53,420
of is going to be shown again, over
469
00:22:53,420 --> 00:22:54,280
and over and over.
470
00:22:54,700 --> 00:22:54,940
Why?
471
00:22:55,400 --> 00:22:56,540
Well, because it's the dairy industry.
472
00:22:57,220 --> 00:22:57,400
Right.
473
00:22:57,520 --> 00:23:01,300
That's your prediction, and I would invite anybody
474
00:23:01,300 --> 00:23:04,160
from Coca-Cola and Fairlife, I would love
475
00:23:04,160 --> 00:23:05,900
to dialogue with you.
476
00:23:07,300 --> 00:23:09,540
Is there a win-win out of this
477
00:23:09,540 --> 00:23:13,020
situation, when we're in the 21st century, and
478
00:23:13,020 --> 00:23:15,440
we have soy milk, oat milk, almond milk,
479
00:23:15,940 --> 00:23:20,120
rice milk, hemp milk, cashew milk, all of
480
00:23:20,120 --> 00:23:23,080
these different kinds of milks, what is stopping,
481
00:23:23,460 --> 00:23:26,380
and by the way, zero-cholesterol milks, when
482
00:23:26,380 --> 00:23:29,160
they're plant-based, what is stopping a transition
483
00:23:29,160 --> 00:23:33,580
to something, if indeed, Rich Kudo is correct,
484
00:23:34,000 --> 00:23:36,200
and again, those are his allegations, and we
485
00:23:36,200 --> 00:23:39,280
would invite you on any time, if indeed,
486
00:23:39,600 --> 00:23:42,880
his allegations are correct, that there's basically no
487
00:23:42,880 --> 00:23:48,340
nice way to, on a large scale, take
488
00:23:48,340 --> 00:23:52,180
milk from mother cows and feed that to
489
00:23:52,180 --> 00:23:56,000
people while removing the calves, because otherwise they
490
00:23:56,000 --> 00:23:58,280
would drink the milk that nature intended for
491
00:23:58,280 --> 00:23:58,560
them.
492
00:23:58,660 --> 00:24:00,580
If there's no nice way to do that,
493
00:24:01,080 --> 00:24:01,680
why do it?
494
00:24:01,960 --> 00:24:02,700
Why not switch?
495
00:24:02,960 --> 00:24:04,120
It's the 21st century.
496
00:24:04,600 --> 00:24:06,520
This is a question that I put out
497
00:24:06,520 --> 00:24:15,040
to whoever is watching this from the industry.
498
00:24:15,180 --> 00:24:17,620
We invite anybody from the industry on any
499
00:24:17,620 --> 00:24:18,000
time.
500
00:24:18,120 --> 00:24:20,500
We would love to dialogue with you, and
501
00:24:20,500 --> 00:24:24,160
again, we are showing the statements that you
502
00:24:24,160 --> 00:24:26,380
have issued publicly and that are still on
503
00:24:26,380 --> 00:24:30,080
your website, so I see that we have
504
00:24:30,080 --> 00:24:32,900
a young social media influencer who's known as
505
00:24:32,900 --> 00:24:37,120
Vegan Evan, the son of Shannon Blair here.
506
00:24:38,160 --> 00:24:39,020
Hi, Vegan Evan.
507
00:24:39,800 --> 00:24:40,000
Hello.
508
00:24:40,620 --> 00:24:43,200
I just want to get your emotional reaction
509
00:24:43,200 --> 00:24:44,520
as, how old are you now?
510
00:24:44,860 --> 00:24:45,660
I'm 14.
511
00:24:46,260 --> 00:24:48,380
Okay, and come up and speak up, please,
512
00:24:48,440 --> 00:24:48,740
my dear.
513
00:24:49,920 --> 00:24:53,220
What was your emotional reaction to seeing the
514
00:24:53,220 --> 00:24:53,560
video?
515
00:24:54,680 --> 00:24:57,840
I mean, I've seen plenty of videos of
516
00:24:57,840 --> 00:25:00,500
footage from the dairy industry, which is always
517
00:25:00,500 --> 00:25:01,080
cruel.
518
00:25:01,080 --> 00:25:05,000
The dairy industry is inherently cruel, and this
519
00:25:05,000 --> 00:25:08,060
just being a step further, while they have
520
00:25:08,060 --> 00:25:11,280
so many statements about how great their care
521
00:25:11,280 --> 00:25:15,380
for these animals is, it's very appalling and
522
00:25:15,380 --> 00:25:22,660
disturbing, and these animals, they want to have
523
00:25:22,660 --> 00:25:25,100
a happy life just like we do.
524
00:25:25,200 --> 00:25:28,400
They want to be safe, not abused and
525
00:25:28,400 --> 00:25:30,440
tortured and having their babies ripped away from
526
00:25:30,440 --> 00:25:34,460
them, and it's just so gross when you
527
00:25:34,460 --> 00:25:35,140
think about it.
528
00:25:35,400 --> 00:25:38,340
We're not made to be drinking another species
529
00:25:38,340 --> 00:25:40,020
milk made for their babies.
530
00:25:41,120 --> 00:25:44,100
As infants, we're supposed to drink our mother's
531
00:25:44,100 --> 00:25:47,240
milk, just like every other mammal.
532
00:25:47,720 --> 00:25:50,460
These mother cows have to carry their babies
533
00:25:50,460 --> 00:25:52,640
for about nine months, about the same as
534
00:25:52,640 --> 00:25:56,060
a human, and when they give birth, pretty
535
00:25:56,060 --> 00:25:58,620
much right away, the baby is taken away
536
00:25:58,620 --> 00:26:01,020
from them, just so humans can steal the
537
00:26:01,020 --> 00:26:04,540
milk, and when they can't make milk anymore
538
00:26:04,540 --> 00:26:07,140
or not as much that's not as profitable,
539
00:26:07,400 --> 00:26:10,400
they're discarded like trash, and they're treated as
540
00:26:10,400 --> 00:26:12,360
commodities when they're sentient beings.
541
00:26:13,380 --> 00:26:15,320
Coca-Cola, as far as I see it,
542
00:26:15,380 --> 00:26:17,900
does not belong in the dairy industry, and
543
00:26:17,900 --> 00:26:19,740
if they do feel like they belong in
544
00:26:19,740 --> 00:26:22,040
the dairy industry, they need to transition to
545
00:26:22,040 --> 00:26:24,240
plant-based milks and alternatives.
546
00:26:26,830 --> 00:26:30,130
Very well said from a 14-year-old
547
00:26:30,130 --> 00:26:32,510
who sounds like you could be running for
548
00:26:32,510 --> 00:26:35,750
public office, and I know there have been
549
00:26:35,750 --> 00:26:38,830
protests outside Fair Life headquarters.
550
00:26:39,570 --> 00:26:42,410
I want to play some clips of Vegan
551
00:26:42,410 --> 00:26:45,150
Evan speaking there, as well as his mother.
552
00:26:46,130 --> 00:26:48,930
You guys, this was not so long ago.
553
00:26:48,930 --> 00:26:53,050
This was very recent when Vegan Evan spoke,
554
00:26:53,230 --> 00:26:57,050
and I believe this was Chicago, and it
555
00:26:57,050 --> 00:26:59,670
needs to stop, especially under Coca-Cola.
556
00:27:00,070 --> 00:27:01,910
Coca-Cola has no business in the dairy
557
00:27:01,910 --> 00:27:02,230
industry.
558
00:27:02,650 --> 00:27:04,950
Coca-Cola makes great drinks that taste great,
559
00:27:05,290 --> 00:27:08,290
that don't require a race to exist.
560
00:27:08,610 --> 00:27:09,390
This is awful.
561
00:27:09,710 --> 00:27:10,730
This is unnecessary.
562
00:27:11,170 --> 00:27:11,830
It's violent.
563
00:27:12,150 --> 00:27:14,930
It's cruel, and we need Coca-Cola to
564
00:27:14,930 --> 00:27:17,770
cut ties with the dairy industry or switch
565
00:27:17,770 --> 00:27:19,550
to plant-based milks, because that's what the
566
00:27:19,550 --> 00:27:20,670
future is.
567
00:27:21,130 --> 00:27:22,490
It's their bodies!
568
00:27:22,590 --> 00:27:24,450
Their lives!
569
00:27:25,390 --> 00:27:26,210
Their babies!
570
00:27:28,170 --> 00:27:28,990
They don't want to live!
571
00:27:30,250 --> 00:27:31,270
Just like us!
572
00:27:31,270 --> 00:27:32,230
They want to be free!
573
00:27:32,450 --> 00:27:33,730
Just like us!
574
00:27:33,770 --> 00:27:36,750
They don't want to be physically impregnated!
575
00:27:36,790 --> 00:27:38,070
Just like us!
576
00:27:38,090 --> 00:27:39,310
They don't want to have their babies ripped
577
00:27:39,310 --> 00:27:39,970
away from them!
578
00:27:40,050 --> 00:27:41,330
Just like us!
579
00:27:41,350 --> 00:27:43,010
The babies don't want to be ripped away
580
00:27:43,010 --> 00:27:43,710
from their mothers!
581
00:27:43,910 --> 00:27:45,290
Just like us!
582
00:27:45,470 --> 00:27:47,770
Within seconds of birth, they do not want
583
00:27:47,770 --> 00:27:49,590
to be ripped away from their mothers!
584
00:27:49,810 --> 00:27:50,970
Just like us!
585
00:27:52,830 --> 00:27:55,750
So, Richard, you were there at that protest,
586
00:27:56,050 --> 00:27:56,530
as well.
587
00:27:57,350 --> 00:27:58,970
Did you get the sense that it was
588
00:27:58,970 --> 00:27:59,790
having any impact?
589
00:28:00,010 --> 00:28:02,450
Did any executives see this coming in and
590
00:28:02,450 --> 00:28:02,710
out?
591
00:28:02,810 --> 00:28:04,510
I saw the big Fair Life sign there.
592
00:28:05,850 --> 00:28:07,950
Yeah, I think the Fair Life executives now
593
00:28:07,950 --> 00:28:10,330
are just burying their heads, locking themselves in
594
00:28:10,330 --> 00:28:12,810
closets, when something like this transpires.
595
00:28:12,810 --> 00:28:16,190
When we go public with another investigation, their
596
00:28:16,190 --> 00:28:18,250
policy now is to not comment.
597
00:28:19,070 --> 00:28:24,010
And in part, what that's doing is lessening
598
00:28:24,010 --> 00:28:29,190
the negative press on their new label, Fair
599
00:28:29,190 --> 00:28:29,790
Life Milk.
600
00:28:30,290 --> 00:28:32,750
But they're just not coming out of their
601
00:28:32,750 --> 00:28:33,070
buildings.
602
00:28:33,690 --> 00:28:37,790
And they're hoping and praying that this subsides
603
00:28:37,790 --> 00:28:40,470
very, very quickly and things go back to
604
00:28:40,470 --> 00:28:40,790
normal.
605
00:28:41,710 --> 00:28:44,630
And that is the problem.
606
00:28:45,410 --> 00:28:47,770
I mean, part of the reason why some
607
00:28:47,770 --> 00:28:49,850
of the larger networks haven't run negative stories,
608
00:28:49,950 --> 00:28:53,690
well, the truth behind the Fair Life scandal
609
00:28:53,690 --> 00:28:56,610
is because Coca-Cola is the sixth largest
610
00:28:56,610 --> 00:28:58,310
corporation on planet Earth.
611
00:28:58,710 --> 00:29:00,890
They spend a lot on advertising, and they're
612
00:29:00,890 --> 00:29:03,290
using that and putting it over some of
613
00:29:03,290 --> 00:29:06,750
the larger networks, NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox News.
614
00:29:06,750 --> 00:29:10,870
But I have to jump in here and
615
00:29:10,870 --> 00:29:12,610
say, this is your opinion.
616
00:29:13,190 --> 00:29:15,110
I was in the mainstream media for many
617
00:29:15,110 --> 00:29:15,410
years.
618
00:29:15,570 --> 00:29:19,590
And I agree, advertiser-based media, advertised-based
619
00:29:19,590 --> 00:29:25,270
media, anybody who's on a major network, all
620
00:29:25,270 --> 00:29:26,430
you have to do is see the commercials
621
00:29:26,430 --> 00:29:29,410
to understand that ultimately, the commercials keep the
622
00:29:29,410 --> 00:29:29,830
lights on.
623
00:29:30,530 --> 00:29:33,970
But we certainly can't make accusations against specific
624
00:29:33,970 --> 00:29:34,470
networks.
625
00:29:35,030 --> 00:29:37,010
So I'm gonna stop you right there.
626
00:29:37,330 --> 00:29:39,770
But I wanna get back to what Shannon
627
00:29:39,770 --> 00:29:41,870
Blair said.
628
00:29:42,150 --> 00:29:45,110
And you also attended that demonstration.
629
00:29:45,110 --> 00:29:48,050
So let's hear you and the speech you
630
00:29:48,050 --> 00:29:49,930
gave, and then talk a little bit about
631
00:29:49,930 --> 00:29:53,130
what you observed and what the reaction has
632
00:29:53,130 --> 00:29:55,990
been in your opinion.
633
00:29:56,770 --> 00:30:02,030
I have three children, three beautiful babies who
634
00:30:02,030 --> 00:30:03,730
are my entire world.
635
00:30:04,890 --> 00:30:06,950
My oldest is here with me today.
636
00:30:08,530 --> 00:30:15,390
I could never imagine having my babies ripped
637
00:30:15,390 --> 00:30:18,410
away from me and not being able to
638
00:30:18,410 --> 00:30:19,650
do anything about it.
639
00:30:20,570 --> 00:30:22,550
I've been to so many dairy farms.
640
00:30:22,550 --> 00:30:26,690
They're the worst places on this planet.
641
00:30:28,390 --> 00:30:31,310
Female animals are held captive against their will
642
00:30:31,310 --> 00:30:34,070
and forcibly impregnated over and over again.
643
00:30:36,150 --> 00:30:38,690
Each time they carry their baby for nine
644
00:30:38,690 --> 00:30:40,710
months, just like a human female.
645
00:30:41,590 --> 00:30:44,110
The day that their precious baby is born,
646
00:30:44,850 --> 00:30:46,930
he or she is violently ripped away from
647
00:30:46,930 --> 00:30:49,390
their mother so that we can steal her
648
00:30:49,390 --> 00:30:50,090
breast milk.
649
00:30:51,270 --> 00:30:54,170
The dairy industry is inherently cruel.
650
00:30:55,450 --> 00:30:58,510
The dairy industry rips babies away from their
651
00:30:58,510 --> 00:31:00,210
mothers and steals their breast milk.
652
00:31:00,630 --> 00:31:01,950
That is what it is.
653
00:31:02,870 --> 00:31:07,670
But what we've seen in these three undercover
654
00:31:07,670 --> 00:31:13,730
investigations is far beyond that inherent cruelty.
655
00:31:15,010 --> 00:31:18,490
This is the most horrific abuse in the
656
00:31:18,490 --> 00:31:21,510
history of the dairy industry caught on film
657
00:31:21,510 --> 00:31:22,730
in the United States.
658
00:31:23,630 --> 00:31:30,050
They're all connected to Coca-Cola's unfair life
659
00:31:30,050 --> 00:31:31,110
plan.
660
00:31:32,130 --> 00:31:35,510
This is so shameful, and we cannot let
661
00:31:35,510 --> 00:31:37,370
them get away with this again.
662
00:31:40,610 --> 00:31:41,250
Wow.
663
00:31:42,150 --> 00:31:42,250
Wow.
664
00:31:42,290 --> 00:31:48,910
Again, I invite any industry executive, whether it's
665
00:31:48,910 --> 00:31:51,850
the suppliers, whether it's Coca-Cola, whether it's
666
00:31:51,850 --> 00:31:55,270
Fair Life, I invite you on.
667
00:31:55,850 --> 00:32:01,870
I want to dialogue with you because anything
668
00:32:01,870 --> 00:32:03,950
I could do, anything I could do as
669
00:32:03,950 --> 00:32:06,990
a human being to not have to go
670
00:32:06,990 --> 00:32:09,670
through just what I went through watching this
671
00:32:09,670 --> 00:32:13,010
and just watching it to upload it so
672
00:32:13,010 --> 00:32:14,790
that we could show clips.
673
00:32:15,150 --> 00:32:16,070
I'm shaken.
674
00:32:16,370 --> 00:32:17,410
I am shaken today.
675
00:32:17,610 --> 00:32:19,290
I've been a reporter for more than 30
676
00:32:19,290 --> 00:32:19,530
years.
677
00:32:19,630 --> 00:32:21,510
I've covered some of the most horrific crimes
678
00:32:21,510 --> 00:32:25,730
in the last 30 plus years.
679
00:32:26,910 --> 00:32:28,150
I'm shaken.
680
00:32:28,550 --> 00:32:29,310
I've cried.
681
00:32:29,910 --> 00:32:34,310
And I don't, I'm beyond just, it's not
682
00:32:34,310 --> 00:32:34,730
anger.
683
00:32:34,990 --> 00:32:39,940
It's just, what is a human being?
684
00:32:40,460 --> 00:32:42,180
What is humanity?
685
00:32:43,180 --> 00:32:43,640
Why?
686
00:32:44,240 --> 00:32:44,680
Why?
687
00:32:45,120 --> 00:32:45,540
Why?
688
00:32:46,420 --> 00:32:46,780
Why?
689
00:32:48,020 --> 00:32:50,420
Is there anything worth this?
690
00:32:51,000 --> 00:32:51,480
Anything?
691
00:32:51,840 --> 00:32:52,360
Anything?
692
00:32:54,470 --> 00:32:59,560
If there's anything worth this, please let me
693
00:32:59,560 --> 00:33:02,320
know because I can't imagine what could be
694
00:33:02,320 --> 00:33:03,200
worth this.
695
00:33:04,200 --> 00:33:07,400
So I think I'm not the only one
696
00:33:07,400 --> 00:33:10,880
having a shaken reaction to these videos.
697
00:33:11,600 --> 00:33:14,040
You've heard from Shannon Blair.
698
00:33:14,440 --> 00:33:18,440
You've heard from the attorney, Angela Kim.
699
00:33:18,600 --> 00:33:21,500
You've heard from the CSI actress, and she's
700
00:33:21,500 --> 00:33:23,440
been in a lot of other films, Lena
701
00:33:23,440 --> 00:33:24,060
Esco.
702
00:33:24,600 --> 00:33:28,800
And Switch for Good is also a very,
703
00:33:28,800 --> 00:33:34,040
very active organisation that has come out with
704
00:33:34,040 --> 00:33:35,160
statements about this.
705
00:33:35,840 --> 00:33:38,560
And I'm looking for their statement that we
706
00:33:38,560 --> 00:33:41,720
might be able to play that because here
707
00:33:41,720 --> 00:33:42,180
it is.
708
00:33:42,440 --> 00:33:46,460
They also actually issued a trigger warning on
709
00:33:46,460 --> 00:33:46,980
this video.
710
00:33:47,180 --> 00:33:47,560
Hey, everyone.
711
00:33:47,720 --> 00:33:49,380
We have something really important that we want
712
00:33:49,380 --> 00:33:50,620
to talk to you about today, but I
713
00:33:50,620 --> 00:33:52,180
have to give you a trigger warning ahead
714
00:33:52,180 --> 00:33:53,740
of time as it's disturbing to watch.
715
00:33:53,840 --> 00:33:57,180
Last month, Animal Recovery Mission exposed horrific animal
716
00:33:57,180 --> 00:34:00,240
cruelty and environmental violations at two major suppliers
717
00:34:00,240 --> 00:34:02,940
of Coca-Cola's Fairlife milk outside of Phoenix,
718
00:34:03,080 --> 00:34:03,460
Arizona.
719
00:34:03,780 --> 00:34:06,440
Cows were kicked, whipped, dying of dehydration in
720
00:34:06,440 --> 00:34:09,159
135 degree heat and left to die in
721
00:34:09,159 --> 00:34:10,300
horrendous conditions.
722
00:34:10,580 --> 00:34:12,199
Milk is cruel to cows and it is
723
00:34:12,199 --> 00:34:13,280
cruel to the human body.
724
00:34:13,580 --> 00:34:16,620
Despite Fairlife and Coca-Cola's claims of humane
725
00:34:16,620 --> 00:34:20,659
sourcing, Animal Recovery Mission's investigation proves the corporation's
726
00:34:20,659 --> 00:34:22,679
complicity in severe abuse.
727
00:34:22,920 --> 00:34:25,360
Please support Switch for Good's ongoing efforts to
728
00:34:25,360 --> 00:34:27,060
wean the world off dairy for the cows,
729
00:34:27,179 --> 00:34:28,960
for human health, for the planet, and for
730
00:34:28,960 --> 00:34:29,540
food justice.
731
00:34:29,800 --> 00:34:31,540
This is why we do what we do
732
00:34:31,540 --> 00:34:32,560
at Switch for Good.
733
00:34:34,760 --> 00:34:37,620
That last kind shot, I don't know who
734
00:34:37,620 --> 00:34:39,560
that was, but that wasn't part of the
735
00:34:39,560 --> 00:34:40,699
undercover video.
736
00:34:41,880 --> 00:34:44,340
So where do we go from here?
737
00:34:44,400 --> 00:34:46,360
There's a number of developments that I'd like
738
00:34:46,360 --> 00:34:47,159
to discuss.
739
00:34:47,800 --> 00:34:50,440
And one of them is the class action
740
00:34:50,440 --> 00:34:51,199
lawsuit.
741
00:34:51,780 --> 00:34:53,780
And as I understand it, not being a
742
00:34:53,780 --> 00:34:56,620
lawyer, at this point it is a proposed
743
00:34:56,620 --> 00:34:58,620
class action lawsuit.
744
00:34:59,180 --> 00:35:02,500
So it was filed in connection with the
745
00:35:02,500 --> 00:35:04,140
release of this undercover video.
746
00:35:04,860 --> 00:35:07,680
And it says here, a class action complaint
747
00:35:07,680 --> 00:35:11,500
for damages, restitution, and injunctive relief for violation
748
00:35:11,500 --> 00:35:15,320
of breach of express warrants, false advertising, unfair
749
00:35:15,320 --> 00:35:20,340
competition, consumer legal remedies act, and unjust enrichment,
750
00:35:21,000 --> 00:35:22,000
et cetera.
751
00:35:22,260 --> 00:35:25,860
And this is a quote from within that
752
00:35:25,860 --> 00:35:28,460
lawsuit, which runs many, many, many, many pages.
753
00:35:29,240 --> 00:35:34,260
It says, animal care and sustainability marketing scheme
754
00:35:34,260 --> 00:35:37,800
and practise are based on materially face false
755
00:35:37,800 --> 00:35:42,640
misleading, untrue, and or unjust claims and omissions.
756
00:35:43,020 --> 00:35:46,440
Video evidence from multiple undercover investigations conducted by
757
00:35:46,440 --> 00:35:50,480
Animal Recovery Mission arm reveals systemic widespread egregious
758
00:35:50,480 --> 00:35:54,420
animal cruelty, cruel standard practises, extreme neglect, including
759
00:35:54,420 --> 00:35:56,720
at the hands of an awareness and with
760
00:35:56,720 --> 00:35:58,000
the awareness of management.
761
00:35:58,480 --> 00:36:02,140
So tell us about this proposed lawsuit, Kudo,
762
00:36:02,400 --> 00:36:03,540
where does it stand?
763
00:36:04,520 --> 00:36:07,820
And it's filing in conjunction with the release
764
00:36:07,820 --> 00:36:08,940
of your undercover video.
765
00:36:09,920 --> 00:36:11,340
Yeah, well, that was filed, I believe the
766
00:36:11,340 --> 00:36:14,380
day that we exposed and had our press
767
00:36:14,380 --> 00:36:15,780
conference in Phoenix.
768
00:36:16,300 --> 00:36:19,320
So we're at the beginning stages of this
769
00:36:19,320 --> 00:36:19,740
lawsuit.
770
00:36:20,460 --> 00:36:22,040
It took a while for this to be
771
00:36:22,040 --> 00:36:24,660
put together by a host of incredible attorneys,
772
00:36:25,080 --> 00:36:27,280
some of the better attorneys in the country,
773
00:36:27,920 --> 00:36:30,700
working side by side with the best animal
774
00:36:30,700 --> 00:36:31,580
welfare attorneys.
775
00:36:32,500 --> 00:36:35,220
But everyone needs to understand that there are
776
00:36:35,220 --> 00:36:37,660
a host of lawsuits other than this class
777
00:36:37,660 --> 00:36:40,260
action that have just been filed and that
778
00:36:40,260 --> 00:36:42,820
are being filed within the incoming weeks.
779
00:36:43,240 --> 00:36:44,880
And I don't want to give Coca-Cola
780
00:36:44,880 --> 00:36:46,920
too great of a heads up on that.
781
00:36:47,080 --> 00:36:48,360
So I can't go into detail.
782
00:36:48,700 --> 00:36:50,960
But things are coming down the pipeline legally
783
00:36:50,960 --> 00:36:55,760
for them that hopefully are going to hurt
784
00:36:55,760 --> 00:37:00,560
this company and force them to recognise and
785
00:37:00,560 --> 00:37:04,620
admit to their shortcomings and what really goes
786
00:37:04,620 --> 00:37:07,040
on behind closed doors because they haven't done
787
00:37:07,040 --> 00:37:07,460
that yet.
788
00:37:09,020 --> 00:37:12,560
So what I find interesting about all this
789
00:37:12,560 --> 00:37:15,260
is that this isn't the first class action
790
00:37:15,260 --> 00:37:15,600
suit.
791
00:37:16,120 --> 00:37:23,240
Now, when you did your 2019 investigation, there
792
00:37:23,240 --> 00:37:27,120
was a class action suit that was filed
793
00:37:27,120 --> 00:37:31,420
that ultimately resulted, I believe in 2022, in
794
00:37:31,420 --> 00:37:35,620
a $21 million settlement.
795
00:37:37,040 --> 00:37:39,880
Can you tell me elaborate on that?
796
00:37:40,040 --> 00:37:43,800
So there's already $21 million that has been
797
00:37:43,800 --> 00:37:47,280
paid reportedly as part of a settlement that
798
00:37:47,280 --> 00:37:53,100
emanated from your previous investigation released in 2019.
799
00:37:54,240 --> 00:37:57,540
And now there's a new proposed class action
800
00:37:57,540 --> 00:37:57,800
suit.
801
00:37:57,920 --> 00:37:59,400
And the reason I say proposed is that
802
00:37:59,400 --> 00:38:01,560
an attorney told me until the courts take
803
00:38:01,560 --> 00:38:03,140
it to a certain level, it's a proposed
804
00:38:03,140 --> 00:38:03,920
class action.
805
00:38:04,280 --> 00:38:07,560
So tell us about that, the previous one.
806
00:38:08,000 --> 00:38:10,100
Yeah, well, Coca-Cola did have to pay
807
00:38:10,100 --> 00:38:12,700
out $21 million from the first class action
808
00:38:12,700 --> 00:38:15,500
lawsuit stemming from our investigation in 2019.
809
00:38:15,680 --> 00:38:18,540
But they also had to adhere in that
810
00:38:18,540 --> 00:38:21,180
lawsuit, overseen and signed off by a judge
811
00:38:21,180 --> 00:38:23,840
to a lot of changes in their policies.
812
00:38:24,280 --> 00:38:26,700
And some of them you've already gone over
813
00:38:26,700 --> 00:38:30,360
cameras, you know, in their supplying barns and
814
00:38:30,360 --> 00:38:33,180
new veterinary care, so on and so forth.
815
00:38:33,360 --> 00:38:38,040
Also, they cannot harvest dairy, their product from
816
00:38:38,040 --> 00:38:42,360
a dairy farm that's cruel to their animals.
817
00:38:42,660 --> 00:38:45,220
That is specifically said in the first class
818
00:38:45,220 --> 00:38:45,520
action.
819
00:38:45,860 --> 00:38:48,460
So they violated, right now they have violated
820
00:38:48,460 --> 00:38:50,840
their class action lawsuit from 2019.
821
00:38:51,300 --> 00:38:53,540
That right now is being looked over by
822
00:38:53,540 --> 00:38:57,060
a judge, I believe out of Illinois and
823
00:38:57,060 --> 00:38:57,840
or Michigan.
824
00:38:58,420 --> 00:39:00,860
So that's an open investigation right now.
825
00:39:01,320 --> 00:39:03,400
And Fairlife and Coca-Cola could be looking
826
00:39:03,400 --> 00:39:07,140
at a huge number in fines from that
827
00:39:07,140 --> 00:39:07,960
alone.
828
00:39:08,180 --> 00:39:09,040
Okay, thank you, Kudo.
829
00:39:09,240 --> 00:39:12,600
And again, that's Kudo's explanation.
830
00:39:12,980 --> 00:39:15,760
I will continue to invite Coca-Cola and
831
00:39:15,760 --> 00:39:18,520
Fairlife officials, anybody connected with the industry on
832
00:39:18,520 --> 00:39:22,120
at any time to further elaborate.
833
00:39:22,540 --> 00:39:25,660
Although we have placed on camera a lot
834
00:39:25,660 --> 00:39:29,680
of your statements from your website that are
835
00:39:29,680 --> 00:39:30,880
up there right now.
836
00:39:31,040 --> 00:39:33,520
I got these the night before.
837
00:39:33,880 --> 00:39:36,900
Okay, so these haven't been taken down.
838
00:39:37,040 --> 00:39:39,060
These are up there right now.
839
00:39:39,180 --> 00:39:40,860
We believe in better care for animals.
840
00:39:40,960 --> 00:39:42,760
So if we took you at your word,
841
00:39:43,340 --> 00:39:45,140
then if you believe in better care for
842
00:39:45,140 --> 00:39:48,040
animals, what would be the ultimate way to
843
00:39:48,040 --> 00:39:50,980
ensuring better care for animals while obviously not
844
00:39:50,980 --> 00:39:51,600
using them?
845
00:39:51,700 --> 00:39:56,020
And in today's 21st century, we have plant
846
00:39:56,020 --> 00:39:56,560
-based milks.
847
00:39:57,900 --> 00:40:00,740
Ultimately, this is a consumer issue.
848
00:40:01,960 --> 00:40:03,440
Is it not, Shannon Blair?
849
00:40:03,820 --> 00:40:04,340
It is.
850
00:40:04,540 --> 00:40:06,680
And Jane, earlier, you said, what does this
851
00:40:06,680 --> 00:40:07,680
say about our culture?
852
00:40:07,960 --> 00:40:09,260
What does this say about us?
853
00:40:09,840 --> 00:40:11,700
And I think that for a second, but
854
00:40:11,700 --> 00:40:13,820
then I think about how manipulative this is
855
00:40:13,820 --> 00:40:15,240
with just the name Fairlife.
856
00:40:15,440 --> 00:40:17,880
And it does show that the consumers, they
857
00:40:17,880 --> 00:40:18,980
want to do better.
858
00:40:19,120 --> 00:40:21,420
So this name pulls at their heartstrings.
859
00:40:21,840 --> 00:40:24,340
But once people really see the inherent cruelty
860
00:40:24,340 --> 00:40:27,720
in this industry, and they're going to, because
861
00:40:27,720 --> 00:40:30,140
we have the power of social media and
862
00:40:30,140 --> 00:40:32,120
we have the truth on our side, people
863
00:40:32,120 --> 00:40:33,820
are going to wake up to the reality
864
00:40:33,820 --> 00:40:36,460
of the situation that there is no right
865
00:40:36,460 --> 00:40:37,820
way to do the wrong thing.
866
00:40:38,260 --> 00:40:41,860
Coca-Cola, like vegan Evan, my son said,
867
00:40:41,920 --> 00:40:44,160
needs to stop telling people that there's a
868
00:40:44,160 --> 00:40:45,920
right way to do the wrong thing by
869
00:40:45,920 --> 00:40:48,800
having their hands in this industry.
870
00:40:49,580 --> 00:40:52,120
And it is a consumer issue.
871
00:40:52,120 --> 00:40:55,600
We all need to realise that it's not
872
00:40:55,600 --> 00:40:56,600
just Fairlife.
873
00:40:56,640 --> 00:40:58,860
It's the dairy industry and it's all animal
874
00:40:58,860 --> 00:40:59,340
ag.
875
00:40:59,440 --> 00:41:02,920
There's no good way to do something to
876
00:41:02,920 --> 00:41:05,000
an animal that doesn't have to be done
877
00:41:05,000 --> 00:41:07,440
to them when it causes them any type
878
00:41:07,440 --> 00:41:08,060
of suffering.
879
00:41:08,080 --> 00:41:10,220
We don't need to be using them.
880
00:41:10,500 --> 00:41:13,040
And when we do, it's hurting all of
881
00:41:13,040 --> 00:41:15,760
us in addition to what it's doing to
882
00:41:15,760 --> 00:41:17,160
them and their children.
883
00:41:17,700 --> 00:41:19,200
It's affecting our health.
884
00:41:19,480 --> 00:41:22,260
It's affecting the planet that we all share.
885
00:41:22,760 --> 00:41:25,560
I just had two babies in the last
886
00:41:25,560 --> 00:41:26,300
three years.
887
00:41:26,580 --> 00:41:29,560
And so when the first investigation came out
888
00:41:29,560 --> 00:41:33,120
in 2019, I, like I said earlier, had
889
00:41:33,120 --> 00:41:35,540
just recently learned about the atrocities of the
890
00:41:35,540 --> 00:41:36,840
dairy industry in general.
891
00:41:37,000 --> 00:41:39,420
Then seeing that and having a child, it
892
00:41:39,420 --> 00:41:43,340
affected me very much emotionally because I can't
893
00:41:43,340 --> 00:41:46,100
imagine having my child ripped away from me.
894
00:41:46,720 --> 00:41:49,720
Then since that investigation, now I've had two
895
00:41:49,720 --> 00:41:51,300
more and now I see this.
896
00:41:51,620 --> 00:41:53,600
And I just look around and I see
897
00:41:53,600 --> 00:41:55,020
all these mothers.
898
00:41:55,220 --> 00:41:58,560
Everyone is either a mother or there's someone's
899
00:41:58,560 --> 00:42:00,040
child and they had a mother.
900
00:42:00,480 --> 00:42:02,880
So it's something that I think once you
901
00:42:02,880 --> 00:42:05,480
understand and once, I mean, most people I
902
00:42:05,480 --> 00:42:07,500
think still don't even understand that this is
903
00:42:07,500 --> 00:42:10,840
another species lactation and it's not meant for
904
00:42:10,840 --> 00:42:11,100
us.
905
00:42:11,220 --> 00:42:12,740
And when you put it all together, it
906
00:42:12,740 --> 00:42:13,920
becomes pretty simple.
907
00:42:14,500 --> 00:42:16,140
And I think Coca-Cola should just be
908
00:42:16,140 --> 00:42:18,860
smart and get out now because me as
909
00:42:18,860 --> 00:42:20,720
an activist, I'm not going to back down
910
00:42:20,720 --> 00:42:23,080
until everybody understands what dairy is.
911
00:42:23,640 --> 00:42:25,540
And I'm not going to stop asking stores
912
00:42:25,540 --> 00:42:27,420
to take Fair Life off their shelves.
913
00:42:27,580 --> 00:42:29,740
And I'm not going to stop asking the
914
00:42:29,740 --> 00:42:31,720
mainstream media to talk about this.
915
00:42:31,840 --> 00:42:33,380
So they should just, they're lucky.
916
00:42:33,520 --> 00:42:34,480
They don't even own the farms.
917
00:42:34,620 --> 00:42:35,520
They only own the plants.
918
00:42:35,580 --> 00:42:36,860
And like you said, they can just switch
919
00:42:36,860 --> 00:42:37,420
those over.
920
00:42:38,500 --> 00:42:39,920
It is an opportunity.
921
00:42:40,200 --> 00:42:44,880
In every negative situation, maybe not all of
922
00:42:44,880 --> 00:42:47,000
them, but in a lot of negative situations,
923
00:42:47,000 --> 00:42:51,200
there is a way to extract victory from
924
00:42:51,200 --> 00:42:51,360
it.
925
00:42:51,860 --> 00:42:55,340
Nobody has anything personally against this company.
926
00:42:55,600 --> 00:42:56,200
It's the videos.
927
00:42:56,200 --> 00:42:57,960
It's the videos of what we're seeing here.
928
00:42:58,920 --> 00:43:02,040
And just as a member of the human
929
00:43:02,040 --> 00:43:03,560
race, I'm shaken.
930
00:43:03,800 --> 00:43:05,700
I can tell you, I'm not making it
931
00:43:05,700 --> 00:43:05,920
up.
932
00:43:06,240 --> 00:43:08,580
I've seen a lot of horrible crime footage.
933
00:43:08,740 --> 00:43:10,840
I've actually seen dead people when I've covered
934
00:43:10,840 --> 00:43:13,960
murder cases as a beat reporter.
935
00:43:14,640 --> 00:43:17,660
But looking at that video, just really, it
936
00:43:17,660 --> 00:43:18,680
did something to me.
937
00:43:19,520 --> 00:43:24,600
It just, I don't have any words for
938
00:43:24,600 --> 00:43:24,860
it.
939
00:43:25,680 --> 00:43:26,280
Why?
940
00:43:27,180 --> 00:43:29,360
When there's an alternative that doesn't involve using
941
00:43:29,360 --> 00:43:32,320
cows at all, that it's just tasty and
942
00:43:32,320 --> 00:43:34,520
has added benefit of being zero cholesterol.
943
00:43:35,660 --> 00:43:37,000
What's it going to take?
944
00:43:37,560 --> 00:43:43,360
Now, back in 2019, Shannon, after the investigation
945
00:43:43,360 --> 00:43:45,560
that caused a lot of headlines, okay?
946
00:43:45,700 --> 00:43:47,960
That one caused more headlines than this one,
947
00:43:48,300 --> 00:43:50,780
which is an interesting phenomenon that I know
948
00:43:50,780 --> 00:43:53,420
you addressed, Kudo, but the story isn't over
949
00:43:53,420 --> 00:43:53,680
yet.
950
00:43:53,840 --> 00:43:55,060
So who knows, right?
951
00:43:55,260 --> 00:43:56,020
It's just beginning.
952
00:43:57,520 --> 00:44:00,400
But you were so desperate to spread the
953
00:44:00,400 --> 00:44:04,160
word, you and your son and a group
954
00:44:04,160 --> 00:44:07,140
of friends went into a supermarket and you
955
00:44:07,140 --> 00:44:10,820
did an in-store protest outside the dairy
956
00:44:10,820 --> 00:44:11,300
aisle.
957
00:44:11,940 --> 00:44:14,760
And this went viral, not from the video
958
00:44:14,760 --> 00:44:16,620
you shot, but my understanding is there was
959
00:44:16,620 --> 00:44:18,880
another person, like a consumer, just looking at
960
00:44:18,880 --> 00:44:20,420
it and shooting it and sold it to
961
00:44:20,420 --> 00:44:23,720
some outlet that put it up and it
962
00:44:23,720 --> 00:44:25,280
got something like a million views.
963
00:44:25,620 --> 00:44:27,020
But here- It got over 10 million
964
00:44:27,020 --> 00:44:28,060
views, actually.
965
00:44:28,300 --> 00:44:30,640
Wow, over 10 million views, this protest.
966
00:44:30,740 --> 00:44:32,560
So watch this protest.
967
00:44:33,400 --> 00:44:36,600
Okay, so this is a demonstration of the
968
00:44:36,600 --> 00:44:41,740
dairy industry where female cows are forcibly impregnated.
969
00:44:42,860 --> 00:44:45,620
They carry a baby for nine months, just
970
00:44:45,620 --> 00:44:48,320
like a human female, and then today their
971
00:44:48,320 --> 00:44:49,740
precious baby's born.
972
00:44:50,080 --> 00:44:52,040
They are ripped away from their mother.
973
00:44:52,180 --> 00:44:55,840
Their mothers cry out for days, sometimes weeks.
974
00:44:55,840 --> 00:44:58,080
Please give me my baby back.
975
00:44:58,200 --> 00:45:00,200
No, no, no.
976
00:45:00,420 --> 00:45:01,220
My baby.
977
00:45:02,280 --> 00:45:03,600
Somebody help.
978
00:45:05,360 --> 00:45:07,340
Please don't take my baby.
979
00:45:07,880 --> 00:45:10,900
So a recent undercover investigation came out from
980
00:45:10,900 --> 00:45:13,360
Fair Oaks Farm in Indiana.
981
00:45:13,900 --> 00:45:17,020
The brand Fair Life is one of their
982
00:45:17,020 --> 00:45:19,300
products, which is distributed by Coca-Cola.
983
00:45:19,300 --> 00:45:23,360
What happens to baby cows and mother cows
984
00:45:23,360 --> 00:45:25,520
on dairy farms every day?
985
00:45:26,100 --> 00:45:29,840
Mother cows are forcibly impregnated and they carry
986
00:45:29,840 --> 00:45:32,640
their babies for nine months, and when the
987
00:45:32,640 --> 00:45:36,480
baby is born, the baby is stolen from
988
00:45:36,480 --> 00:45:37,960
their mothers immediately.
989
00:45:38,480 --> 00:45:41,040
And so we can take their dairy milk.
990
00:45:42,000 --> 00:45:44,620
We have some footage here for Fair Life
991
00:45:44,620 --> 00:45:49,540
Farm, and today we're showing an undercover investigation
992
00:45:49,540 --> 00:45:52,980
of the abuse that these mother cows and
993
00:45:52,980 --> 00:45:55,260
baby cows endure on this dairy farm.
994
00:45:56,240 --> 00:45:58,080
Abuse is rampant on dairy farms.
995
00:45:58,220 --> 00:45:59,840
This is not just one case.
996
00:46:01,740 --> 00:46:04,800
Wow, that got 10 million views, not from
997
00:46:04,800 --> 00:46:06,980
the angle that you were shooting and recording.
998
00:46:07,180 --> 00:46:08,720
And by the way, that's on Unchained TV.
999
00:46:08,820 --> 00:46:10,200
You can watch it, the whole thing.
1000
00:46:10,200 --> 00:46:11,660
It goes on for quite a while.
1001
00:46:12,460 --> 00:46:13,180
It's fascinating.
1002
00:46:13,420 --> 00:46:15,820
But somebody else, a shopper, took the video
1003
00:46:15,820 --> 00:46:19,220
and sold it to an outlet, and you
1004
00:46:19,220 --> 00:46:20,620
had told me it got something like 10
1005
00:46:20,620 --> 00:46:21,260
million views.
1006
00:46:21,660 --> 00:46:23,460
But I think it's a sign of your
1007
00:46:23,460 --> 00:46:25,940
desperation, and correct me if I'm wrong to
1008
00:46:25,940 --> 00:46:26,580
get the word out.
1009
00:46:26,700 --> 00:46:28,940
I mean, people don't do that because it's
1010
00:46:28,940 --> 00:46:29,320
fun.
1011
00:46:30,020 --> 00:46:30,620
It's done.
1012
00:46:30,980 --> 00:46:33,320
It would strike me out of desperation to
1013
00:46:33,320 --> 00:46:35,640
wake people up in some way, shape, or
1014
00:46:35,640 --> 00:46:35,940
form.
1015
00:46:36,940 --> 00:46:39,980
Can you tell me a little bit about
1016
00:46:39,980 --> 00:46:44,100
your motives and how you felt and how
1017
00:46:44,100 --> 00:46:47,300
the others felt reenacting what happens, in their
1018
00:46:47,300 --> 00:46:48,020
opinion, in dairy?
1019
00:46:48,620 --> 00:46:50,520
So that was just one of the many
1020
00:46:50,520 --> 00:46:52,100
times that we did that demonstration.
1021
00:46:52,740 --> 00:46:55,440
And the reason that we were doing it,
1022
00:46:55,460 --> 00:46:57,320
like you said, was to raise awareness about
1023
00:46:57,320 --> 00:46:59,520
the inherent cruelty of the dairy industry, but
1024
00:46:59,520 --> 00:47:02,080
also to show this above and beyond, which
1025
00:47:02,080 --> 00:47:03,540
is why we had the props and the
1026
00:47:03,540 --> 00:47:04,820
kicking was going on.
1027
00:47:05,440 --> 00:47:08,360
And I think that you're absolutely right.
1028
00:47:08,400 --> 00:47:11,240
It was a complete attempt in desperation.
1029
00:47:11,280 --> 00:47:13,820
We'll do anything that we can to get
1030
00:47:13,820 --> 00:47:15,620
people to realise what's happening.
1031
00:47:15,840 --> 00:47:17,860
I've been to dairy farms all over the
1032
00:47:17,860 --> 00:47:20,200
country now, from the east coast to the
1033
00:47:20,200 --> 00:47:23,440
west coast, small, tiny farms that have only
1034
00:47:23,440 --> 00:47:25,720
10 female cows, where I'm from in upstate
1035
00:47:25,720 --> 00:47:29,300
New York, to massive farms, ones that supplied
1036
00:47:29,300 --> 00:47:32,180
or possibly still do to fair life.
1037
00:47:32,680 --> 00:47:35,960
And the just seeing the hutches that exist,
1038
00:47:36,140 --> 00:47:38,820
not an up-close view of the kicking
1039
00:47:38,820 --> 00:47:40,540
and the punching and what we've seen in
1040
00:47:40,540 --> 00:47:44,180
these undercover investigations, but just what it is.
1041
00:47:44,180 --> 00:47:48,420
It's thousands of female animals being forcibly impregnated.
1042
00:47:48,620 --> 00:47:51,640
The sperm is typically being brought from a
1043
00:47:51,640 --> 00:47:52,400
different facility.
1044
00:47:52,820 --> 00:47:54,780
So there's just females on the property.
1045
00:47:55,000 --> 00:47:56,940
And when they're born, that's all they want
1046
00:47:56,940 --> 00:47:57,840
is more females.
1047
00:47:58,060 --> 00:48:00,320
So the males go somewhere else and the
1048
00:48:00,320 --> 00:48:01,640
babies go in these hutches.
1049
00:48:01,640 --> 00:48:05,000
And just that in itself, every single human
1050
00:48:05,000 --> 00:48:07,420
being should have a problem with that.
1051
00:48:07,700 --> 00:48:10,300
And from my experience, they do once they
1052
00:48:10,300 --> 00:48:10,940
see it.
1053
00:48:11,060 --> 00:48:14,240
And that's why these industries are so desperate
1054
00:48:14,240 --> 00:48:15,120
to keep it hidden.
1055
00:48:15,480 --> 00:48:17,820
And that's why I'm so desperate to get
1056
00:48:17,820 --> 00:48:20,300
the truth out is because I genuinely believe
1057
00:48:20,300 --> 00:48:21,740
that most people are good.
1058
00:48:21,920 --> 00:48:24,620
I think most people do love animals, but
1059
00:48:24,620 --> 00:48:26,840
we've just been born into this world of
1060
00:48:26,840 --> 00:48:29,880
normalised violence and we're desensitised to a lot
1061
00:48:29,880 --> 00:48:30,200
of it.
1062
00:48:30,600 --> 00:48:32,800
But I don't think most people are desensitised
1063
00:48:32,800 --> 00:48:34,320
to the horrors of the dairy industry.
1064
00:48:34,480 --> 00:48:35,700
They're just not aware of them.
1065
00:48:36,080 --> 00:48:38,120
So yes, I'll do anything I can to
1066
00:48:38,120 --> 00:48:40,320
get the word out within my legal limits.
1067
00:48:41,860 --> 00:48:42,120
Yeah.
1068
00:48:43,260 --> 00:48:43,780
Ditto.
1069
00:48:44,160 --> 00:48:47,420
I mean, this is the role of journalists
1070
00:48:47,420 --> 00:48:50,060
to get this information out.
1071
00:48:50,540 --> 00:48:55,080
And as Kudo was mentioning, there's a lot
1072
00:48:55,080 --> 00:48:56,740
of pressure to look the other way.
1073
00:48:57,320 --> 00:48:58,420
It's too graphic.
1074
00:48:59,880 --> 00:49:02,500
So if you just write this and you
1075
00:49:02,500 --> 00:49:04,600
write an article about it without showing it,
1076
00:49:04,660 --> 00:49:05,840
it doesn't have the impact.
1077
00:49:06,320 --> 00:49:08,020
Because it was really, I had read a
1078
00:49:08,020 --> 00:49:09,260
couple of articles and then it was when
1079
00:49:09,260 --> 00:49:11,140
I looked at the video that I started
1080
00:49:11,140 --> 00:49:16,200
having this emotional reaction that I literally was
1081
00:49:16,200 --> 00:49:20,260
like, I'm embarrassed to be a member of
1082
00:49:20,260 --> 00:49:21,240
the human race.
1083
00:49:21,560 --> 00:49:23,160
That's what occurred to me.
1084
00:49:23,700 --> 00:49:26,000
Shame for my species.
1085
00:49:26,880 --> 00:49:27,580
Shame.
1086
00:49:28,500 --> 00:49:31,720
And it just, it goes beyond anger.
1087
00:49:31,920 --> 00:49:36,100
It goes beyond, it's just almost this existential
1088
00:49:36,100 --> 00:49:39,340
sense of why have we created hell on
1089
00:49:39,340 --> 00:49:40,260
earth for these animals?
1090
00:49:40,800 --> 00:49:41,800
For what purpose?
1091
00:49:42,480 --> 00:49:47,560
When there's obvious alternatives and that are better
1092
00:49:47,560 --> 00:49:51,200
for the environment, that are better for human
1093
00:49:51,200 --> 00:49:53,280
health because heart disease is a leading killer
1094
00:49:53,280 --> 00:49:56,360
and zero cholesterol products have health benefits.
1095
00:49:57,240 --> 00:50:01,520
I just, when it doesn't make any sense
1096
00:50:01,520 --> 00:50:07,420
on any level except for profit, that's when
1097
00:50:07,420 --> 00:50:10,960
I say, wow, you know, our culture has
1098
00:50:10,960 --> 00:50:14,920
crossed over into something that I don't really
1099
00:50:14,920 --> 00:50:15,900
recognise.
1100
00:50:16,860 --> 00:50:24,140
It's like, like I said, there's really no
1101
00:50:24,140 --> 00:50:24,980
words.
1102
00:50:25,780 --> 00:50:31,120
I will pray literally on my knees that
1103
00:50:31,120 --> 00:50:37,380
Coca-Cola consider transitioning to plant-based.
1104
00:50:37,740 --> 00:50:38,940
Give it a shot.
1105
00:50:39,540 --> 00:50:41,560
Do one with oat milk.
1106
00:50:41,880 --> 00:50:43,020
Just see how it goes.
1107
00:50:43,140 --> 00:50:45,400
Or soy milk or almond milk or whatever
1108
00:50:45,400 --> 00:50:46,080
milk you want.
1109
00:50:46,180 --> 00:50:47,060
Just see how it goes.
1110
00:50:47,560 --> 00:50:48,960
I'm going to get on my knees and
1111
00:50:48,960 --> 00:50:49,620
pray for that.
1112
00:50:50,200 --> 00:50:50,440
Pray.
1113
00:50:51,640 --> 00:50:54,700
Because I don't want to live in a
1114
00:50:54,700 --> 00:50:58,300
world where this is somehow allowed to go
1115
00:50:58,300 --> 00:50:58,540
on.
1116
00:50:59,860 --> 00:51:02,280
So final thoughts, kudos.
1117
00:51:03,040 --> 00:51:05,600
What are your final thoughts?
1118
00:51:05,800 --> 00:51:10,520
And again, kudos for your courageous, relentless work
1119
00:51:10,520 --> 00:51:11,360
in this field.
1120
00:51:12,120 --> 00:51:12,540
Thank you.
1121
00:51:13,300 --> 00:51:15,220
I think it's important to know we are
1122
00:51:15,220 --> 00:51:16,540
working with law enforcement.
1123
00:51:17,500 --> 00:51:20,820
The sheriff's office in that county in the
1124
00:51:20,820 --> 00:51:23,600
greater Phoenix area has taken this case as
1125
00:51:23,600 --> 00:51:26,660
well as the Arizona Department of Agriculture law
1126
00:51:26,660 --> 00:51:27,520
enforcement division.
1127
00:51:27,720 --> 00:51:29,000
So we are working with the head lieutenant
1128
00:51:29,000 --> 00:51:29,300
there.
1129
00:51:29,860 --> 00:51:31,720
It's important to know that this is a
1130
00:51:31,720 --> 00:51:33,580
three minute video that was put out to
1131
00:51:33,580 --> 00:51:34,420
the greater public.
1132
00:51:34,880 --> 00:51:37,960
But I edited this video in which I
1133
00:51:37,960 --> 00:51:40,920
sent another video to law enforcement, which was
1134
00:51:40,920 --> 00:51:45,060
14 hours long with edited, small edited clips
1135
00:51:45,060 --> 00:51:50,440
of felony and misdemeanour animal cruelty only that
1136
00:51:50,440 --> 00:51:51,820
violated state law.
1137
00:51:52,800 --> 00:51:57,420
That type of footage, over 14 hours of
1138
00:51:57,420 --> 00:52:00,480
it, it took me up to six months
1139
00:52:00,480 --> 00:52:04,560
to edit that, is beyond anything I've ever
1140
00:52:04,560 --> 00:52:07,020
edited before in any case globally.
1141
00:52:07,440 --> 00:52:08,480
Not just the dairy industry.
1142
00:52:09,020 --> 00:52:10,740
So that's the type of level of cruelty
1143
00:52:10,740 --> 00:52:12,100
that we're looking at here.
1144
00:52:14,060 --> 00:52:19,320
We're hoping for felony and misdemeanour arrests, not
1145
00:52:19,320 --> 00:52:21,400
that it's going to change much, but that
1146
00:52:21,400 --> 00:52:22,900
it's going to drive media, right?
1147
00:52:22,920 --> 00:52:24,040
Because arrests drive media.
1148
00:52:25,160 --> 00:52:28,100
And that this will blow this case up
1149
00:52:28,100 --> 00:52:31,920
globally for people to be educated on Fair
1150
00:52:31,920 --> 00:52:33,980
Life, but not just Fair Life milk and
1151
00:52:33,980 --> 00:52:36,140
Coca-Cola, but the dairy industry as well,
1152
00:52:36,720 --> 00:52:38,960
because this is the face of the dairy
1153
00:52:38,960 --> 00:52:40,100
industry, right?
1154
00:52:41,600 --> 00:52:45,080
So we're hoping that people are educated and
1155
00:52:45,080 --> 00:52:48,160
see who Coca-Cola really is, who Fair
1156
00:52:48,160 --> 00:52:50,800
Life really is, and what the dairy industry
1157
00:52:50,800 --> 00:52:53,760
really is and make that transition for the
1158
00:52:53,760 --> 00:52:55,640
first time in their lives possibly to go
1159
00:52:55,640 --> 00:52:58,120
to the grocery store and for the first
1160
00:52:58,120 --> 00:53:01,180
time buy that plant-based butter or yoghurt
1161
00:53:01,180 --> 00:53:07,220
milk, that first oat milk or almond milk
1162
00:53:07,220 --> 00:53:08,500
or mayonnaise.
1163
00:53:08,500 --> 00:53:13,340
There are so many tastier products out there
1164
00:53:13,340 --> 00:53:14,380
other than cow's milk.
1165
00:53:15,020 --> 00:53:18,100
And that is what's sustaining this industry, right?
1166
00:53:18,160 --> 00:53:19,740
People purchasing the product.
1167
00:53:20,360 --> 00:53:23,020
So not government, not the dairy industry, but
1168
00:53:23,020 --> 00:53:25,780
we the people have the power to stop
1169
00:53:25,780 --> 00:53:26,280
the cruelty.
1170
00:53:27,040 --> 00:53:27,660
That's it.
1171
00:53:28,140 --> 00:53:29,140
It's simple.
1172
00:53:30,640 --> 00:53:31,280
Yeah.
1173
00:53:31,280 --> 00:53:32,520
Thank you for that.
1174
00:53:32,680 --> 00:53:34,720
And Shannon, your final thoughts.
1175
00:53:35,480 --> 00:53:38,580
I'm just, well, I'm really grateful to Kudo
1176
00:53:38,580 --> 00:53:41,920
and his team for doing these investigations because
1177
00:53:42,500 --> 00:53:44,800
otherwise it just stays hidden completely.
1178
00:53:45,160 --> 00:53:47,380
And I'm so grateful to you, Jane, for
1179
00:53:47,380 --> 00:53:49,220
amplifying the situation.
1180
00:53:49,860 --> 00:53:52,480
And my final thoughts, I just hope that
1181
00:53:52,480 --> 00:53:55,300
everyone who's watching will just do their best
1182
00:53:55,300 --> 00:54:00,500
to get involved and boycott Fair Life, obviously,
1183
00:54:00,780 --> 00:54:01,420
and all dairy.
1184
00:54:01,980 --> 00:54:05,160
I've been boycotting Coca-Cola and the Simply
1185
00:54:05,160 --> 00:54:07,840
Juices and everything they make for years personally,
1186
00:54:07,920 --> 00:54:10,100
because that's what I feel like I want
1187
00:54:10,100 --> 00:54:11,360
to do until they get out of the
1188
00:54:11,360 --> 00:54:12,000
dairy business.
1189
00:54:12,220 --> 00:54:14,560
But I hope that the average person will
1190
00:54:14,560 --> 00:54:17,500
get upset about this and that they will
1191
00:54:17,500 --> 00:54:19,980
not only do the avoiding of the dairy
1192
00:54:19,980 --> 00:54:23,020
and the brand, but also ask their store
1193
00:54:23,020 --> 00:54:25,260
managers to please take it off the shelves.
1194
00:54:25,400 --> 00:54:26,940
Because if you go into a store all
1195
00:54:26,940 --> 00:54:28,940
the time, you're the one that they care
1196
00:54:28,940 --> 00:54:29,260
about.
1197
00:54:29,380 --> 00:54:30,860
So you keep doing that.
1198
00:54:30,940 --> 00:54:32,460
Enough people do that all over the place.
1199
00:54:32,560 --> 00:54:34,480
Enough people make phone calls, write emails.
1200
00:54:34,640 --> 00:54:35,180
We'll get it done.
1201
00:54:37,000 --> 00:54:39,160
AnimalRecoveryMission.org is where there is a petition.
1202
00:54:39,400 --> 00:54:43,160
If you want to sign it, AnimalRecoveryMission.org.
1203
00:54:43,320 --> 00:54:45,560
I want to thank everybody for joining us
1204
00:54:45,560 --> 00:54:46,200
for this podcast.
1205
00:54:46,340 --> 00:54:47,820
Please share it out if you're watching on
1206
00:54:47,820 --> 00:54:48,520
social media.
1207
00:54:49,020 --> 00:54:50,300
And you can also share it out if
1208
00:54:50,300 --> 00:54:52,920
you're watching it on the Unshamed TV streaming
1209
00:54:52,920 --> 00:54:53,480
network.
1210
00:54:54,580 --> 00:54:58,880
Again, I invite Coca-Cola, Fair Life, any
1211
00:54:58,880 --> 00:55:01,500
industry executive involved in this in any way,
1212
00:55:01,660 --> 00:55:03,720
shape or form on to discuss.
1213
00:55:04,020 --> 00:55:05,100
I would love that.
1214
00:55:05,220 --> 00:55:08,300
I would love to dialogue with you about
1215
00:55:08,300 --> 00:55:13,700
a way forward that doesn't involve animals.
1216
00:55:14,100 --> 00:55:15,920
Thank you so much for joining us.
1217
00:55:16,900 --> 00:55:17,400
Thank you.
