Great podcast for college admission advice!
This is such a great podcast with professional advice that you can trust. Makes the college admissions process less stressful! Thank you!
An essential resource!
As my daughter was entering high school I realized how many, many, MANY years it had been since I applied to college. I went looking for a way to educate myself and found this podcast. The episodes have been invaluable, clarifying issues I thought I understood and raising my awareness of many others I would never have thought to ask about. I went back and listened to four years’ worth of episodes, and while that wasn’t essential it was time well spent. Can’t recommend highly enough if you want to really gain a deep understanding of this process.
Best College Admissions Podcast
I've been listening to Getting In for a few years now. I started listening so I could help my son prepare for college admissions. The information I learned from the podcast is invaluable. I love that the hosts have worked in college admissions so they offer real world advice from an insider's perspective. They present the material in a way that people new to college admissions can understand. I find I learn something new with every podcast. Thanks so much for sharing all of this information! If you are a parent of a high school student or you are a high school student, I highly recommend you listen.
The best podcast ever
What can I say about the quality of this podcast? It’s amazing. They have demystified the biggest, scariest topic a parent or student could ever face, and I am eternally grateful to them all.
Always helpful - even when you think it doesn’t apply to you
Have been listening to “Getting In” for about 6 months and am feeling much more settled and excited about the college process for my 3 teenagers. All content is relevant and concise. Even when I feel a topic doesn’t specifically apply to me I find nuggets of valuable information and insight. PS - If you have a spouse, parent, friend, etc. desperately hanging on to the idea of the “well rounded student with a leadership role and spot on a high school sports team” as THE recipe for success, this podcast will cure them quickly.
My go-to admissions podcast
So much great information each week and literally hundreds of hours of information in their archives. I find myself sifting through topics i know nothing about and coming out the other end well informed.
Fantastic resource
My daughter is a high school junior, so we’re new to the college search and application process, and this podcast has been an amazing source of information. I’ve learned about what factors to consider when selecting a college, what to look got during a college visit, a great deal about what admissions officers look for in an applicant, what is important in the college essay, a host of information about financial aid, and any other subject you can think of regarding the college admissions process. Besides a knowledgeable host, there are great guests and a regular listener Q&A, all of which are valuable. On top of that, it is interesting and engaging, so enjoyable to listen to. Definitely a five-star podcast.
Great podcast, lots of topics, lots of info
I really enjoy and recommend this podcast. Using a rotating mix of hosts and guests, each episode has three segments, each of which covers a different topic. The topics are varied, and over time the podcast has covered many aspects of the college admissions process. Hosts are pleasant, knowledgable and easy to listen to. Don't hesitate to dig into their archives - there is an awful lot of information there.
Well worth your time
These conversations are insightful and incredibly beneficial. Navigating the college application process is daunting, at best. However, it is such a blessing to be able to turn on a podcast and get instructions and helpful tips from experts in the field.
Best admissions overview podcast
Best college admissions podcast I've found. Beth Heaton does a great job providing information AND perspective.
Very helpful info
I've been listening to this for the last few months and have found it so informative. With my oldest starting to apply for school, this podcast has really helped me help him make informative decisions. Nicely done.
Helpful
Good and helpful information. As a high school college counselor, I use your Q & A section to compare how I would answer the questions to how you all are answering them! Fun! To the host and guests, though, I would be careful about calling out particular names of colleges in answering your questions. In the Feb 19 episode in the discussion about matching need-based aid offers at highly selective schools, for instance, it felt awkward for me to hear that Penn would work to match a student's need-based offer to Brown or Dartmouth, but not so much Wash U. Ouch. Otherwise, keep up the great work and I have enjoyed listening.
Excellent college admissions advice
I love hearing from these experts, both from the admissions and finance sides. A great resource for anyone with high school students who want to know what admissions officers are really thinking about.
The college application process is not as scary as you think
Listening to this podcast over the last six months helped calm my fears and give me the information my family needed as our oldest child was creating a college list and applying for college. Don’t let the scary commercial for their coaching services discourage you. The podcast itself tells you what admissions and financial aid officers are looking for as they read applications and how to avoid common pitfalls of that process. Their discussions of what colleges want to see on essays and writing supplements showed me that the common wisdom among parents was wrong. The interviewees and interviewers have frequently worked in admissions (& financial aid) offices and have also worked as admissions coaches or high school counselors so they have frequently seen the admissions process from both sides. This podcast is a great resource for *anyone* who is approaching or in the college search and admission process, it is not aimed solely at those applying to the most selective schools. Topics include whether or not to take a gap year, when college is not the right choice, what if my child is not in the top 10-20% of the class, what if my child’s test scores/grades are not the greatest.
Love this podcast
These people know their stuff. Not just for parents hell-bent on ivies either. Excellent and informative!
So Helpful
I listen to the show every week. There's so much helpful information for both parents and students who are thinking about college. It's an overwhelming process, and I look forward to each new episode and all the advice it brings!
Informative!
I am going to be a senior applying to colleges this fall and this podcast is so helpful in navigating the entire college process. It has such great information and the available advice has helped me understand the college admission process better. Thank you for all the help!
Great information!
I've been listening to this podcast since it began. Elizabeth gives great information for parents and students alike. I'm a parent of a high school junior and though I wish we started sooner, I'm so glad we have this to help guide us through the journey!
